Rising Stars: Meet Krystell Gongora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystell Gongora.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am from Tijuana, Mexico, came to LA since I was in love of how photography is so appreciated and you can get many opportunities in this city as a photographer, it hasn’t been easy but I am glad I made the decision to represent my country through my work and my personality, I am someone who believes we all are good and beautiful and thats why my last project SELF LOVE SERIES was created and was supported by so many people and important for girls, who are all shapes, color, age and they still can rock being behind the camera, showing them no matter what.. they are beautiful and still embrace their sexuality which is an amazing thing of being a woman.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have struggled with racism and sexual harassment where men hire me and don’t think of me as a professional photographer but I show them they’re wrong and racism since I have a few experiences on my living in the USA. It’s 2020 and me being naïve didn’t think it would happen to me but there’s something about that situation that only pushes me to be better. My English has been a struggle but everyday I learn more of this beautiful language and get more motivated.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer, always try to have a variety on what I shoot, people, cars, food, weed, etc… two things I’m most proud about is working with this amazing company who gave me an opportunity to make art with their weed called Dove&Grenade who the band members of Hollywood Undead believed in me and gave me the opportunity which I’m very grateful and working with women teaching them how to get the most of their beauty behind the camera, and with the results showing them how beautiful they are and hoping to get them gain more confidence with their bodies.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would like to share how amazing is been the support of my family about my decision of coming to live in our neighbor country.
