Rising Stars: Meet Juan Felix of Southern California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Felix.

Hi Juan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started out doing DJ mixes and uploading tracks on Soundcloud for fun, but during the COVID-19 shutdown I had time to pick up on music production. I would spend hours on my PC learning how to start a West Coast, Florida, Detroit, or a Trap beat from scratch in my garage or sometimes in my room. I would manage to proceed with music production and hop on singles, EP’s, and Albums locally in Southern California: In the Los Angeles (LA) area and the Inland Empire (IE). Along the way I teamed up with Fortwoe and Notorious Migo (Music Producers/Engineers) to run a music studio located in the Downtown Pomona area called: “FP.FM Studio”. At FP.FM Studio and other music studios I would end up working with artists and groups like: AzCult: (AzChike, AzSwaye, AzKilo) MackkandCompany: (Rucci, Mister) Parkside: (P.S. Plugs, $paz, Kidnap, TinoKay, Dekoh, T-Money) Off The Mussle – OTM: (Blue Pesos, Duffy, DuseThaJoynt, Scottyy, Treezyy) CamDaGuapo (Santa Paula, CA) Kapri (Santa Ana, CA) 8peTown (8k) : (Ocho, Rowdy Racks) Blue Raggs (Riverside, CA) RugaRal29 (Rubidoux, CA) as well as Corridos Tumbados Artist: Tyan G. As well as other artists coming up and new artists barely making their start.
My Music Name is Pheelix, (Produced By Pheelix), (Prod. By Pheelix), (Mixed By Pheelix), (Engineered By Pheelix).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say the beginning of the learning and experience process of each three: production, engineering, and mixing, because you really do not know what to expect until you are working in real-time. For example, working with an artist or music group(s) in a studio session where social media influencers, music managers, record label owners, A&R reps, camera operators, entertainers, and photographers are part of the session. It can and often create different creativity, vibes, and situations, but as the producer or engineer you got to adjust, adapt, or whatever it takes for you to get the job done.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would say I specialize being the mixing engineer of a track or project and the music production of West Coast and Trap music.
I am Proud of all the friends, networking, and business relations I have made in the music world, music industry, including the other different industries there is as well. I would have never thought of these opportunities and experiences being a reality.
I am very recognizable as said by family, friends, music homies, and my peers, but I think what sets me apart is that I am genuine, original, and always thinking about what is new or next to come. I think that tends to attract organic music work and artists which is very exciting and they tend to set their own lanes creating trailblazers, innovators, and pioneers in the music world and industry.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I would define success as being able to enjoy the success, not just succeeding by itself. It is just not enough for me. I got to be able to enjoy my successions even the small ones.
