Rising Stars: Meet John Piccarreto of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Piccarreto.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Moved to California in 2017 and started doing BG to cut my teeth in television and film. This helped me get acclimated to what all the roles and process is in these various productions. I then got involved with training to perfect my craft as well as workshops that helped me gain featured roles on numerous shows including The Lincoln Lawyer, Night Court, NCIS, Goliath, The Connors, The family business to name a few. Eventually I found opportunities in student films and eventually obtained lead roles.. with my drive and desire I found opportunities in supporting roles in both Short Films and Feature Films. I was also involved with a group of fellow actors where are collaboration created and produced our own short films, Halfway House and Just A Chat. I also find my way into commercials, music videos and multiple commercials keeping myself diverse. I waited to find a Talent Agent until I felt my reel was strong enough with past work that could show my range. I am now signed with Imagine Talent here in LA and Talent Plus in St Louis. My aspirations are to find strong matching roles that will allow me to further my acting career. As I look back I feel very fortunate for the opportunities that have been given me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was going great til the Pandemic hit and then shortly thereafter the Writers and then Actors Strike. Work was scarce and noticed a lot of productions were leaving Hollywood. That’s when our group of collaborators when into gear and decided not to wait and create our own productions. Today thinks are picking up in LA with a surge coming into play with all the growth in Vertical Films.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
After spending 25+ years in a successful sales and marketing career I put that behind me and followed my dream to pursue my acting career. Cut my teeth I started doing background work eventually allowed me to grow by taking acting classes attending workshops allowing me to perfect my craft. Over the years it has allowed me to be cast and student films independent films feature films, music videos, commercials and print ad campaigns as well as modeling. This journey has been nothing but exciting and rewarding. In addition to my acting I have a side hustle which I work for a multitude of casino event companies throughout Southern California working as a blackjack, Texas Holdem, roulette and Baccarat dealer..

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
As a result of my casino experience it has rewarded me by being cast and a feature film “Surrender” as a blackjack dealer (Carmine) simply by being found on Instagram as a result of some of my casino event posts. Additionally this experience also got me cast as a guest star role on the soap opera the days of our lives as a Croupier based on my experience, the most recently and the new Hulu series”All’s Fair” as a featured role in Season 2. I guess you can call that Good Luck!
