Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Halstead.
Jenny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We are a Southern California-based wedding planning focused on creating elevated, detail-driven celebrations that feel as seamless as they are unforgettable.
What started as a genuine love for hosting and celebrating life’s biggest moments naturally evolved into a full-service business. I found myself drawn not just to the aesthetic side of events, but to the behind-the-scenes logistics and the feeling you can create for people when everything comes together thoughtfully. That combination—design and experience—is really what defines my approach today.
I work with couples who want a wedding that feels refined but still personal. My style leans timeless with a modern edge, and I’m very focused on creating events that reflect each couple in a way that feels intentional, not overdone. Whether it’s a black-tie celebration or a more intimate gathering, the goal is always the same: for it to feel effortless, cohesive, and true to them.
Outside of business, I’m a mom, and that has had a huge influence on how I run JenEvents. It’s taught me how to balance structure with flexibility, stay calm under pressure, and really value being present. That perspective carries into my work—I want my clients to actually enjoy their engagement and be fully in the moment on their wedding day, not stressed about what’s happening behind the scenes.
At the end of the day, I see my role as more than just planning a beautiful event. It’s about creating an experience where my clients feel supported, understood, and completely taken care of—from the first conversation through the final send-off.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Breaking into the wedding industry was one of the hardest parts. It’s such a relationship-driven space, and in the beginning, you’re really starting from the ground up.
The first few years were all about networking, building trust, and forming genuine relationships with other vendors and venues. I spent a lot of time putting myself out there, saying yes to opportunities, and proving my value without always having a long track record behind me. That season required a lot of patience and consistency.
Looking back, those challenges really shaped my business. They taught me resilience, strengthened my connections within the industry, and ultimately helped me build a brand that’s rooted in trust, collaboration, and a high level of service.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What we’re really known for is the experience we create for our clients throughout the planning process. Our goal is always to put couples at ease. We often say we want to be the “maid of honor without the title”—the person they can fully trust to take the reins, make thoughtful decisions, and handle every detail so they don’t have to worry. That level of trust is everything to us. We want our couples to feel confident handing over their vision and know they’re in capable, caring hands.
I’m most proud of the relationships we build along the way. Being able to step into such an important season of someone’s life and become a steady, supportive presence is something I don’t take lightly. Seeing couples fully present on their wedding day—laughing, crying, enjoying every moment without stress—is the most rewarding part of what we do.
What sets us apart is that balance of design expertise and calm execution. We care deeply about the aesthetic, but just as much about the experience behind the scenes. Our approach is intentional, detail-focused, and rooted in trust, so our clients can truly let go and enjoy the process, knowing everything is handled.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that weddings are never a one-person effort—they’re truly a team experience. Every vendor, from the planner to the florist to the photographer and venue staff, plays a vital role, and when everyone is aligned, that’s when the magic really happens.
Early on, I learned that the strongest weddings come from collaboration, clear communication, and mutual respect among vendors. We’re all working toward the same shared goal: creating the best possible day for the couple. When you approach it with that mindset instead of working in silos, everything runs more smoothly and the experience feels more elevated for everyone involved.
That lesson has completely shaped how I run my business. I prioritize relationships with vendors, open communication, and a team-first approach on every event. At the end of the day, it’s not about any one of us individually—it’s about coming together to give our couples a day that feels effortless, intentional, and truly unforgettable.
