Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Siegle
Hi Jason, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to Santa Monica during the pandemic and quickly fell in love with the Santa Monica Mountains and trail network that was available to me to go mountain biking from basically my front door. I dove head first into learning every trail and exploring the area but I largely did this on my own. Around this same time I started creating video content on social media and in the last year or so have built a small following on Instagram. Then at some point around the month of February, I saw one of the local running clubs while I was out riding along the beach and thought wouldn’t it be cool to start something similar but for mountain bikes.
A month or so later decided to start Santa Monica Mountain Bike Club. I made a video I posted to Instagram to promote it and picked a date on the calendar for our first ride not knowing if anyone would see the video or even show up for the ride. Ironically for LA, the first ride was rained out. It actually rains now in LA! The weather has been wild the last couple of winters. The second ride, however, following that first video getting a fair number of views, turned into solid turnout of 15 riders.
Over the last couple of months we have grown to average 25-45 riders every week for our weekly Wednesday night rides and have really started to build a community of mountain bikers! I’m exited for what the future holds.
If you live in the LA area and ride mountain bikes and want a grow to ride with you should come check us out!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road but the club has continued to grow in its short life so far and we are definitely developing a great community of people that share the love mountain bikes and the outdoors..
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an Endurance Sports Coach for Carmichael Training Systems that works primarily with cyclists looking to get more fit and become better cyclists.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’d like to thank everyone that has joined us for a ride so far. Everyone has been open and friendly with each other and it’s fostered and amazing atmosphere that is so great to be apart of.
