Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquelyn Giselle
Hi Jacquelyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Southern California and I grew up in the era of beauty YouTubers and influencers, so it was always my dream to be an influencer! It wasn’t until 2021 that I decided to actually try and take it seriously, so that’s when I started posting. I make the typical beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content but, I’m sharing my perspective as a first-generation post-grad Latina trying to navigate this industry. Now I have about 5k followers across Instagram and TikTok and I love the little community I have built!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being the first person in my family to go to a university and graduate with a Bachelor’s degree definitely came with some struggles. It was difficult to navigate higher education on my own because none of my family had experience in that area and some didn’t fully understand the struggles that come with that as well. I think graduating has brought on more struggles when it comes to starting my career, networking, etc. because it’s something that I feel that I’m having to figure out for the first time on my own too. When it comes to social media, I think because I’m Latina there have been times I’ve felt discouraged because there wasn’t much representation in the influencer space. That definitely is changing though and I have seen a lot more Latina creators making it big.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a content creator who makes beauty, fashion, and lifestyle videos! I love sharing my favorite products and outfits with my audience and getting tips from them as well. I think I am most known for my hair and my makeup, because those are the things I get complimented on the most. I love being complimented on those because it gives me the chance to share my beauty tips! I am most proud of graduating with my Bachelor’s degree and the community I have created for myself online. I think what sets me apart is that I try to be as authentic as possible online, especially as a Latina in my early 20s who always dreamed about being in this industry.
What makes you happy?
A good hair, makeup, and outfit day, a good iced coffee, my cats, music, creating content, and being around authentic people. I think just being in good company and doing things that I enjoy will always make me happy because it brings me back to the present moment. I’m also very happy when my viewers say they’ve used one of my recommendations or tips and let me know that it worked for them!
