Today we’d like to introduce you to Imari Milsap
Hi Imari, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started out years ago in elementary. As a kid I wasn’t like anyone else to be honest, I didn’t think about toys I was only focusing on my future. I told myself one day I wanted to be an actor and after that the real work began. I started teaching myself how to read monologues and how to write scripts in crayon. I didn’t have access to a computer back then so I improvised, as I started my journey at a young age I soon realized how people could go from good to bad in an instant. It was hard to find support back then because everyone would consider me a weirdo for trying something so big at a young age. My main goal is to portray Miles Morales in a live action adaptation one day. As of right now I do write scripts and make fan films on social media. So far I’ve made an impact and I’m just glad to final see the vision come to life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The support I had as a child was barely there. The only people that supported me were my aunt and uncle who soon later became my adopted parents. At school I was an outcast, people would look at me like a freak for having such a big ambition for myself and it was horrible to deal with. Sadly enough I lost my aunt and uncle, when they passed I felt my heart hit a new low. It took a while to overcome that darkness and strive for my dreams again.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actor, writer, director, model, and content creator. I write my own films, direct my own films and I started modeling not too long ago. I always try to branch out and extend my talents. I’ve made a name for myself in my city to where people would ask to be apart of my projects whenever I put up a casting call
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The lesson I’ve learned is no matter what you go through you’ll always get back up no matter what.
