Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Lindblom.
Hi Holly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My fascination with the paranormal actually started when I was a child. I remember having a Haunted Mansion record, and when I eventually got the chance to visit the attraction, I genuinely believed the ghosts were real. That childhood curiosity never really went away. As I got older, it evolved into a deeper interest in haunted places, their histories, and the stories behind the people and events connected to them.
Over the years, that curiosity turned into a lifelong journey. I started seeking out haunted locations and researching the history behind them, and what began as a fascination eventually became something much more meaningful to me. I’ve now visited more than 650 haunted locations, traveling to different places and continuing to explore what makes these locations so compelling. For me, it’s never really been about clicks, clout, or simply saying I’ve been somewhere haunted. It’s about the experience, the history, the atmosphere, and that feeling of not knowing exactly what you’re going to encounter.
Eventually, that journey grew into what is now Hollys Haunts. It became a way for me to bring together my love of exploration, history, photography, and the paranormal into something of my own. Hollya Haunts represents that continuing journey the places I’ve experienced, the stories I’ve uncovered, and the endless curiosity that started when I was a kid listening to that Haunted Mansion record. Even after all these years and hundreds of locations, I still feel like there’s so much left to discover.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Getting to these places has never been easy, and I’ve had to build this journey completely on my own. I’m a waitress, so every trip, hotel room, tank of gas, plane ticket, entrance fee, and piece of equipment comes out of my own pocket. I’ve had to work around my schedule, save money, plan trips carefully, and sometimes make sacrifices just to get to a location I felt was important to experience. There have been plenty of times when it would have been easier to stay home, but I kept reminding myself that this was something I genuinely believed in.
Another obstacle has been dealing with the people and personalities that come with being involved in the paranormal community, especially here in Los Angeles. There can be a lot of competition, judgment, jealousy, and what I jokingly call the “mean girls of L.A” I’ve experienced people trying to discourage me, underestimate me, or make me feel like I didn’t belong. Instead of letting that define my experience, I learned to keep my focus on why I started in the first place. I don’t need everyone to understand what I do, and I certainly don’t need anyone’s permission to pursue it.
The biggest thing I’ve overcome is learning that I can build something meaningful without having a huge budget, a big team, or people constantly cheering me on. I’ve had to become incredibly resourceful and resilient, and every obstacle has taught me something. When I look at the hundreds of locations I’ve traveled to and everything it took to get there, I’m proud because I know I did it myself. Hollys Haunts wasn’t handed to me it grew out of years of hard work, sacrifice, persistence, and refusing to stop doing something I love simply because it wasn’t always easy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work with Hollys Haunts brings together my passion for the paranormal, photography, travel, history, and storytelling. I specialize in exploring haunted and historically significant locations, researching the stories behind them, and documenting my experiences through photography and social media. I’ve visited more than 650 locations, from well known haunted landmarks to lesser known places with stories that deserve to be remembered. For me, the paranormal is about much more than ghosts. It’s about the history, the people, the atmosphere, and the stories that make each location unique.
What I’m most proud of is how much I’ve accomplished independently. I’m not backed by a production company or a huge budget. I’m a waitress, and I fund these adventures myself, which means every location represents planning, saving, traveling, and a personal commitment to making it happen. I’ve built Hollya Haunts from the ground up because I genuinely love what I do. I’m proud that I’ve been able to turn something that started as a childhood fascination into a journey that has taken me to hundreds of locations and introduced me to so many incredible stories and experiences.
I think what sets me apart is that I’m not doing this simply for attention or to chase the next viral moment. I approach these places with genuine curiosity and respect, and I want people to experience them through my eyes. Photography is a huge part of that because it allows me to capture not only what a location looks like, but the feeling and atmosphere of actually being there. Hollys Haunts is ultimately a reflection of me: curious, independent, persistent, and always willing to go somewhere new in search of a story. Even after more than 650 locations, I still have that same feeling I had as a kid there’s always another place to explore and another mystery waiting to be uncovered.
What matters most to you? Why?
Integrity is probably the most important thing to me when it comes to Hollys Haunts and the work that I do. I want to be honest about my experiences, honest about what I see, and honest about what I don’t see. I’m not interested in creating a story just because it will get more attention or making something seem more paranormal than it actually was. There are enough people chasing sensationalism, and that’s not why I started doing this. I want people to know that when they see my work, it’s coming from a genuine place.
I honestly don’t care about clicks, clout, or being the biggest name in the paranormal community. Those things have never been the reason I get in my car, get on a plane, or spend my own money traveling across the country. I just love going to haunted places. I love standing inside these historic buildings, learning their stories, taking photographs, and experiencing them for myself. If other people enjoy following along, that’s wonderful, but at the end of the day, I would still be doing this even if nobody was watching. That’s what makes it real to me.
