Rising Stars: Meet Carlotta Grimoldi of italy and los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlotta Grimoldi.

Hi Carlotta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve started working as a model at the age of 16 just for fun because my mom is a designer and I used to shot for her campaigns. I’ve continued to work as a model and after my graduation at school I started to studying acting. at first I’ve started to take private lessons with a director in Rome that he was teaching in an academy too so after one year I started that academy in Milan. meanwhile I was studying I’ve started to act in a lot of Italians artists music video, such as Adrenalina by Baby Gang, heaven by eiffel69, Ti Raggiungerò by Fred DE Palma and a lot more.
at the end of the academy I started to went to masterclasses from various director and actor, one of them was from the Italian director Giovanni Veronesi that after those days of masterclass he personally get in touch with me asking me to do an audition for his next movie. I get my first speaking role in that movie that is called Romeo è Giulietta.
in the next years I got other roles in movies as Dettami Che Scrivo by Massimo Paolucci, in a Tv series called Roberta valente and an English speaking role in TexMckenzie by Ronn Moss the famous actor from Beautiful series.
I’ve worked also in two Italians tv shows called Le iene where I work as an “real life actress” helping those journalist to discover bad intentioned people. an other Italian tv show I’ve worked in is the gialappa show where I do comic sketch.
after a long time this year I realized one of my biggest dream: move to LA. I went here the first time during February because I choose to follow classes at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio where I still take classes with her daughter: Clair Chubbuck. a few days ago I finally worked in my first American movie that was such an honor for me and I really enjoyed this opportunity. I can’t tell a lot about this new experience but I know that will be the first of many opportunities that this city will offer to me.
when I was a kid I grew up with an actor that was part of the family. I remember that he use to make videos of me while I was doing things and I was so happy when he did it and keep asking to see me in the videos. and I also remember that I was playing always like I was some character from the movies i ved watched. I think that this has inspired me in my life and create this kind of art in me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
well it’s still a hard working thing because I know that there is much more to do to arrive at the point I want to be. leave all what you have in your country and go to the other side of the world is an hard decision to take but this place stole my heart and when I’m here I feel that I am in the right place for me.
the road to arrive at this point wasn’t so smooth because you can find a lot of people who wants to bring you down an a lot of ones who give you like false chances and I admit that sometimes I wanted to give up but my dreams are to big and fortunately I believe in myself and I will never get compromised by others

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
as I was telling before I am determinate person and is difficult that I would give up on something that I really want. since I was a kid I was seeing my self as the person I am right now. I have always dreamed about the states and now I’m here and I can’t be more happy than this.
in all the areas of my life I am such a “focus” person, If I have something to do that i think that’s really important for me I get focus on it and I go to take what is meant to be mine.
when I started the academy in Italy they use to teach us using the chubbuck method wich I really loved, that’s why I took the decision to come here and went at the chubbuck studio, I’m really happy about the decision I made because I love to use it while acting.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
you always needed to be in the right place at the right moment, you have to always get new connections and be with people who work in the industry. I like to surround myself with people who can teach me something because there is always something to learn.
