Rising Stars: Meet Andrea Dempsey of Westlake Village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Dempsey.

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Andrea Dempsey, and I am a NASM-certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach based in Westlake Village, California. I empower women (and others) to create strong, healthy, energized lives through balanced fitness and nutrition. Originally from Punta del Este, Uruguay, I have called the USA home for the past 25 years, bringing a rich blend of cultural experiences, global adventures, and a deep love for life’s simple joys to my work. My journey has been fueled by a lifelong passion for movement and feeling alive in my body. I’ve loved working out since I was 18—it’s always given me incredible energy and that vibrant feeling of a healthy, capable body ready to embrace every experience life offers. Over the years, I’ve traveled to different countries, met amazing people, and soaked up the beauty of diverse cultures, which has shaped my appreciation for holistic well-being. Before diving into fitness coaching, I spent six years as a cosmetologist, where I learned so much about beauty, self-care, and nurturing the body from the outside in. I even competed in Ms. Bikini America and placed 5th—what an exhilarating experience! But I realized that extreme diets and pushing through pain didn’t align with my true philosophy: loving your body, listening to it, and giving it what it truly needs for sustainable joy and strength. After COVID hit and I saw so many people struggling with their health and energy, something clicked. I knew my passion was helping others achieve what I’d built for myself—a balanced, fulfilling lifestyle. That’s when I became a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. Today, at 49 I’m thriving in Westlake Village, offering personalized training in English and Spanish, and loving every moment of guiding others toward their best selves.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely had its bumps—like many, I navigated the challenges of relocating countries, balancing family life, and finding my true calling amid life’s changes. Competing in bikini pageants taught me a lot, but stepping away from that world was a big shift; it meant redefining success on my own terms, away from intense restrictions. Post-COVID, seeing widespread struggles with health and motivation was tough, but it lit a fire in me to step up and help. Through it all, I’ve leaned on my love for family, nature, and a spiritual outlook—observing the magic of life keeps me grounded and grateful. The road hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge has made me stronger and more compassionate in how I coach others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a NASM-certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, I focus on strength training, weight loss, core stability, flexibility, muscle building, posture, functional training, injury prevention, cardio conditioning, stress relief, and corrective exercises. I develop personalized plans that work on both body and mind, helping clients build confidence, energy, and lasting habits. What makes me different? My bilingual approach (English and Spanish), my focus on sustainable, joyful fitness—avoiding extreme diets or pain—and my sincere care for each person’s unique journey. Clients often say I make workouts fun and motivating while achieving real results, emphasizing proper form, mindset, and overall health. I’m most proud of being a strong role model for my daughter, Sofia—an incredible Aerospace Engineer with a beautiful soul—who motivates me every day. Watching her succeed and knowing I’m showing her (and my clients) what loving your body and living fully looks like fills my heart.

What’s next?
I’m excited to continue growing my coaching practice, helping more people embrace a healthy, vibrant lifestyle that feels good from the inside out. I look forward to watching Sofia keep shining, being the best role model I can be, and spending more time enjoying nature with my wonderful husband—especially scuba diving in our favorite spot, Cozumel. That underwater world is pure magic, full of wonder and peace. I plan to stay connected to the spiritual side of life, noticing its everyday miracles, while continuing to inspire and support others in achieving balance, strength, and joy.
