Today we’d like to introduce you to Alessandra Castronovo
Hi Alessandra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At the age of three, I began singing. As I grew up, I became very shy and struggled with stage fright, but I always tried to push through. Eventually, I met singer-songwriter Brenda K. Starr, who introduced me to her friend Janice Robinson. Both of them helped me come out of my shell and guided me through the music industry.
In my late teens, after working hard to overcome my stage fright, I began performing all over the tri-state area and even went on a small tour across the country. Every weekend, I would take the bus to New York City to listen to incredible singers and live music, which always inspired me.
Eventually, I got an opportunity to audition for “The Voice,” which brought me to Los Angeles. This move was perfect timing because I had always wanted to be there. After the show, I knew I wanted to create and release my own music. It took years, meeting many people, and lots of ups and downs to find the right collaborators. Now, I can finally say that I’ve reached that point. I have been able to create the music of my dreams and surround myself with talented and kind people.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has not been smooth. I’ve faced numerous letdowns and losses. My biggest struggle was finding producers whose music I liked and who were genuinely kind. Working with people who share my moral compass and provide a safe environment is crucial, especially in a male-dominated industry as a young female. Despite these challenges, I have persevered and am proud of where I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist and singer known for delivering great vocals not only in the studio but also live, which to me is always the goal of being a performer. I’m most proud of my latest project, my EP. The music and vocals I’ve delivered on each track are a true reflection of me.
What sets me apart from others is the unique tone of my voice. It’s something specific to each singer, and when you hear certain voices, you just know who they are. I strive to create that kind of recognition with my voice.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as being able to support yourself and your loved ones financially by doing what you are most passionate about, while also gaining recognition from your peers and the people you look up to. True success is when those you admire appreciate and enjoy your work, as well as inspiring others.
