Today we’d like to introduce you to Ajaun Mclaughlin
Hi Ajaun, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After I graduated high school, i tried going to community college ,quickly realizing after the first semester that school wasn’t for me. I began working a bunch of 9-5 jobs including security, warehouse, retail… you name it I did it. Somewhere down the line of working I became inspired to start modeling. I began taking pictures and collaborating with as many photographers as I could to build not only my social media presence but my portfolio as well. I did this for about 4 years while working my day jobs. Around 2020 I was inspired by other social media influencers to start making fashion reels. I was consistent and highly motivated with my craft. I wanted to get better with every video I posted. 3 1/2 years later of posting I finally had a one reel hit BIG on instagram with over 8million views. I quickly gained over 100k followers on instagram within 6 months time and my life has never been the same since. I manifested this life I was blessed with and I worked my butt off to get here. I have no intentions on slowing down.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t always easy to make content considering the living environments I was in ,and the lack of financial stability but I still made the best out of what I was given. I made it mandatory to be resilient regardless of my circumstances.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion content creator/model and I specialize in 90s and early 2000s fashion. I am known for my classic and nostalgic looks that I present to social media through edited videos and pictures. I am most proud of the positive influence and impact I have had on all of my supporters. I believe my authentic personality and style/flow sets me apart from the others.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The biggest thing that has helped me along my journey in the entertainment industry is simply by being myself and leading by example with my work ethic. I believe when people see you working hard on yourself and your craft they will gravitate towards you. Stop taking life so seriously and realize that everyone regardless of the amount of followers or accolades they have achieved, we all eat the same sleep the same and breathe the same air etc. No one is above anyone else. And lastly, just be kind!
