Rising Stars: Meet Aina of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aina

Hi Aina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m Aina (known professionally as AINA, pronounced eye-na). I was born and raised in California to an immigrant family, my journey has felt like a reflection of the American dream. Music has been my way of making sense of the world for as long as I can remember. I started playing piano and wrote my first song when I was 9, and I produced my first song at 15, learning online from the producers I admired. I have been addicted to creating music ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think the challenges are what make the journey worthwhile. Being a first-generation American, I’ve had to work hard to make my dreams a reality. My parents came here to build a better life, they didn’t speak the language, didn’t know anyone and they had to figure everything out on their own.
Watching my parents push through every obstacle to create opportunities for our family taught me the importance of perseverance and determination. That mindset was passed down to me—I learned that if you want something, you have to work for it and never give up.
I started working early to support my music and quickly realized how costly production could be. Rather than letting that hold me back, I decided to learn how to produce on my own.
I write my own lyrics and music, play piano, and handle much of the production myself. I love what I do and every night I don’t want to go to bed because I’m too excited to wake up and create. Along the way, I’ve learned so much—writing, producing, designing my visuals—and there’s always more to learn. But every challenge has shaped me and helped me grow.
I’m grateful for the journey, the growth, and everyone who has supported me along the way — exited for what’s ahead!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. I really enjoy creating music that blends storytelling with melody, crafting songs that feel both relatable and engaging. I write my own lyrics and melodies, play the piano on my tracks, and handle a lot of the production myself.
People often recognize me for my distinct sound—melancholic yet hopeful—but my music is also fun and energetic. I love experimenting with different styles, whether it’s a moody ballad or an upbeat track that makes people want to move. Beyond that, I design my own artwork and oversee the creative direction for my projects. It’s been a journey of continuous learning, and I’m just grateful for the opportunity to share my music with people who connect with it.

I don’t think I could ever say I’m proud of anything related to myself or my work. The word that feels right is grateful. I’m grateful to my family, who sacrificed so much for me to have the chance to do what I love. I’m grateful to the producers and DJs who took a chance on me—when BEAUZ gave me my first-ever collab, they believed in me, and that meant everything. And most of all, I’m grateful to my supporters, my friends—the ones who check in on me every day, encourage me, and inspire me. I think about them all the time—my A-Team. Who am I to deserve even a moment of their precious time? All I want is to make them proud—my family, the producers and DJs who believed in me, and the people who support me. They’ve given me so much, and I just want to be worthy of that.

I’m a teenage singer-songwriter who also produces my own music. Early on, I realized how expensive music production could be, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and learn how to produce. I spent countless hours watching tutorials from producers like Ryan Tedder, Louis Bell, Charlie Puth, FINNEAS, Kygo and others, developing the skills to bring my ideas to life. I also graduated from school a few years earlier than my peers so I could focus entirely on my music. That decision gave me the freedom to develop my sound, experiment creatively, and fully commit to my career at a young age.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing as a singer-songwriter while also producing my music. My new song, I Saw You, is coming out March 14, and I’m really looking forward to sharing it with everyone. Along with the new song release, I have some exciting collaborations lined up this year that I think my fans will enjoy. I’m eager to share these projects and bring something fresh to the table. I’m especially excited for more live performances and the chance to connect with fans in different cities. There’s something so special about performing live, and I can’t wait to meet and see everyone.
As for the future, I plan to keep creating and evolving, exploring new sounds and collaborations, and pushing myself to grow both as an artist and as a person. For me, it’s all about connecting with others through my music and sharing those moments together.
