Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Djurich.
Hi Zack, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m just a corn-fed Indiana boy who somehow ended up at the Grammy’s. It’s been a rollercoaster ride the last few years from engineering albums for Kanye and Cordae to producing records for Stray Kids, Johan Lenox and Boslen.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This is where I name-drop Kanye for a second time and leave it at that haha. There’s been lots of ups and downs, good years and bad years, but ultimately I think I’ve been trending upwards. I really love a lot of artists that I’ve got the opportunity to work with and it finally feels like I’m beginning to make a name for myself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
If I’m known for anything, it’d probably be as a recording engineer, but in recent years I’ve finally made the jump to full-time music producer. I still record often out of necessity, but my passion is creating the actual music more so than capturing it.
What does success mean to you?
Success is being really really rich and powerful. Just kidding, success to me is feeling happy and like I’ve accomplished something. A few years ago I’d define success as making a living solely off music and I feel fantastic for being in that position for a while now. I just want to make music with people I get along with.
