Meet Tyra Keetin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyra Keetin.

Tyra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started modeling about a year ago when I decided to start to reaching out to different businesses in Los Angeles to help me with building my modeling portfolio. From different types of networking, to meeting different people in the modeling world, I soon learned about pageantry and I was intrigued about the pageant world. I wanted to grow in my modeling career, so I decided to pursue pageantry. Shortly after training for pageants, my manager entered me into my first pageant and then I ended up winning Miss Teen California Global United States 2019. From there, I knew that with my hard work and determination I was going to continue chasing my dreams of becoming a model because I have that fire in me.

A few months later, I began to hear about the runway modeling world and a casting that they had for a runway, so of course I had to attend the casting because it was a clear sign that I needed to step out of my comfort zone and chase my dreams. After going to my first casting, I got a call back and I got to walk for Raging Runway, which was the first of many runway shows for me. I was able to network with the most amazing, hard working, and like-minded people in the modeling industry.

From networking with different models, producers, photographers, makeup artists, stylists, and so on, I got to walk for more runway shows and then I started getting into the music video world. I ended up accomplishing one of my life goals that I’ve had since the age of 7 years old, of being in a music video. I got to shoot for YG’s music video, and also Tyga’s music video. These blessings motivated me even more to push myself to be the greatest self and to be the most determined person, to keep pushing in order to reach more and more goals of mine. I recently shot a video with Under Armour and Awesomeness TV. I am also currently building up my modeling portfolio so that way I can accomplish my dream of becoming a signed model.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Modeling has taught me in this past year that there will be success, and there will be failures, but it’s how you hold yourself up as a person that will help you grow from every situation. Everything in life is a learning experience, and I am beyond grateful and blessed for the opportunities that I have worked for. I have so many more dreams to accomplish in this life of mine, and I am ready to take upon this journey.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
From becoming Miss Teen California Global United States 2019, to walking in runway shows, and appearing in music videos, I am most certainly proud of myself for the fire and drive that I have. I am not afraid to jump out of my comfort zone. And I love that I take every moment as a learning experience, to help me grow, not only as a model but overall as a person. Doing what I do at only age 17 has been a rocky road, but my  drive in me does not stop me from pursuing my dreams that people older than me have never accomplished.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I were to start over, I definitely wish that I would have networked with more people, because there is no such thing as “too much” networking. This will only help me grow my career as I take upon advice that like-minded people give me.
