Today we’d like to introduce you to Larissa Marie Saenz.
Larissa Marie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Just like every other teenager, I really didn’t have my life figured out. I only knew one thing and that was styling hair for friends and family was something I was good at. I enrolled in LATTC cosmetology program and right away, I knew that was where I belonged. After I graduated I started working with makeup artist doing special events. And that is where I found my passion. I absolutely fell in love with special event styling, but my expertise would be doing bridal events. After a year of working with other bridal businesses, I decided I had enough experience to start up my own mobile bridal team. So, that’s exactly what I did. BridalSaenz is my passion come to reality. How can I even call it work when all I see is going to a bridal party every weekend. I’m getting paid to hang out with other females and play with their hair. I love what I do.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is never a smooth journey, but that’s what makes it all worth while in the end. Looking back at all the obstacles you had to overcome makes you appreciate what you have even more. I always tell myself.
“I’m not lucky. I’m not blessed. I worked too damn hard to not give my OWN self-credit’. I try to encourage women who are starting out to just stick by it. Everyone’s going to say it’s hard and not to do it, but if you feel it’s your true passion, there’s always a way.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bridalsaenz – what should we know?
BridalSaenz is a mobile hair and makeup team I started up the end of last year. It’s my passion turning into a reality. We service all special occasions but our true specialty lies in bridal work. I am the lead hairstylist and I have 3 makeup artist that works for me. I’m known for my bridal work like i mentioned earlier, creating looks from sleek and chic to boho and whimsical. My mobile bridal team takes pride in making our ladies feel even more amazing on their special day.
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
Personally, I have always been seen as being “bossy” when really. I am just the actual boss. Females today have it hard to not be seen as being something other than the leader. We need to encourage one another into believing we, too can be in charge in a “man’s world”.
