Meet Trailblazer Jessica Furey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Furey.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I actually suffered from a teenage eating disorder. Entering the fitness industry as a personal trainer, at a young age of 18 was such a 180 to my lifestyle. 16 years later, as I grew more in fitness and the value of health from having an every day yoga and meditation practice, my personal health has become a necessity instead of something ‘when it’s convenient.’ I’ve been very grateful to work with celebrities and a continuation of many known in the entertainment industry. But what has been most valuable to me is the confidence, self-love, honor, and respect I have embedded in my mind, body, and soul. I believe in creating and living out a message of health and wellness towards others, and I equally truly believe that our everyday actions from the inside-out help us become our own best examples of health and wellness. I’m always inspired to see others find their own path of healthy as well as happiness. Like a daily workout, I like to exercise gratitude daily because some of my greatest teachers, mentors, and friends have helped me connect to it’s important for self well-being.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s a Japanese Proverb that says, ‘Fall down 7, get up 8.’

With that said, I wish it was a smooth road. Otherwise, I would be sailing my yacht with my {future} husband and life partner.

It’s been tough. It’s definitely has had its lows, as well as it’s highs.

I remember renting from someone that would only allow me to be at the house during certain times, mostly to sleep. So often, I would find myself living out of my car during the day and doing whatever sleep necessary in the apartment to be up and out early the next morning. It was pretty draining, but things definitely got better.

But then, you go through more life experiences a close lost loved one, loneliness and sometimes trying to decide where to use your very last dollar wisely.

I love being a woman and connecting with women who see us as equal is beautiful. I’ve had my experiences of women judging as well as trashing me with hurtful, harmful, and judgemental words.

I have learned from my yoga and meditation practice that I must always find strength through love and forgiveness as well as compassion. For myself and equally for others. Yes, sometimes you want to scream and curse, but from what I like to practice more and more daily is that it’s not what someone gives to me, it’s what I give back to the world.

I think us women all have something we are fearful of or a feeling of worthiness towards. And like I tell myself each day, ‘I am worthy. I am love. I am an abundance. And the universe is always serving and protecting me.’ The most beautiful and humbling exercise you can do daily is to connect to the beautiful unique person that you are. Be true to that person. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, as long as it’s not hurting yourself or another. The world needs more examples of love, kindness, as well as a strong confidence sense of self-worthiness that allows you to create anything that fills your soul and puts a smile on your face.

A daily practice of gratitude and meditation is something that will always be a part of my every day. And I truly believe it’s the foundation that continues to keep me strong whether I’m flying really high or drowning really low.

Don’t be afraid to help someone when needed or reach out to someone when it is needed for your self.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’ve been a personal trainer for 16 years. I teach Pilates, yoga, meditation, and nutrition. I also do pre and postnatal. As my career has grown, I have become more involved with fitness modeling as well as spokesperson positions to companies and wellness groups. Now, a lot of my career is based around being a fitness model, spokesperson, and newly launched podcast host to the Freedom Fashion Furey podcast.

I would say that it’s always been a convenience for my clients to see my personal training business as a one stop shop for all their fitness, health, and wellness needs.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I am a person of ‘we are all equal.’ So, I would honestly say that however a woman can position herself to her strongest and most confident abilities can certainly open doors to countless opportunities. As well as, I will speak for myself that pursuing a path of being a female entrepreneur has definitely been something I have gained motivation and self-confidence from other female mentors. And men mentors as well.
