Today we’d like to introduce you to Tosha Hartzog.
Hi Tosha , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Tosha Hartzog and I’m from San Diego CA. I started styling about 9 years ago. I went to FIDM briefly in San Diego and I met two alums from the school who were Stylist. Once I met them and started assisting them I knew styling was what I wanted to pursue. I started styling shoots with local creatives & fashion shows.
In late Jan of 2020 I moved to LA. Great timing huh haha. Once Covid started I moved back to San Diego and when I came back Dec of 2020 I snagged an Assistant Stylist role at an e-commerce fashion company.
I went full time as a Freelance Stylist in 2022 and started styling actresses & actors.
When the Hollywood strikes hit in 2023 things became slow. I prayed to God to direct my path as I was discouraged and didn’t know what to do. He blessed me with a vision of going into Athlete Styling. Since then I’ve been blessed with being on the wardrobe team at the NFL network, styling ESPN analyst Chiney Ogwumike, assit stylist of ESPN host Malika Andrews, style and assit style NFL & NBA players, and style multiple WNBA players.
God truly shifted my career. It was a huge pivot but I’m grateful for it and love the way my career is growing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There has definitely been lots of obstacles along the way. Being full time freelance is not for the weak. There’s months where work is slow and I’d get worried about how I’m going to pay bills. The time of the Hollywood strikes was really hard because it got so slow.
Pivoting into the athlete world has been tough at times. Entering a new land I’ve had to learn a lot and build relationships and trust with agents and players. That can be hard to navigate at times.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Wardrobe Stylist. I specialize in Athlete Styling. I do a lot of WNBA work currently.
My main client currently is sports Analyst Chiney Ogwumike of ESPN.
I’m most proud of all the work I’ve done in the sports industry so far. It’s not an easy industry to tap into so the fact that I’m only over a year in of doing it and I’ve accomplished so much that makes me so proud and thankful to God.
Some of my proudest moments is styling Kawahi Leonard for his New Balance Campign, styling Lisa Leslie for the 2024 ESPYS, styling for the 2024 WNBA draft, etc.
What sets me apart from others is that I love to create memorable looks that make a statement. Also that I’m using my entire career as a living testimony that God is able.
What matters most to you? Why?
God matters to me most. Without God I would not be interviewed by you all sharing my journey & testimony.
I believe he has truly aligned my life to be where it is today. He has truly made my dreams come true. I just want to encourage everyone to continue to pursue your dreams and don’t ever stop! Keep the faith and stay prayed up along the way and you will not fail!
