Meet Tenisha Steen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tenisha Steen.

Tenisha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin? 
My name is Tenisha Rochelle Steen. I am 56 Years Young; My Story Begins in the City of Santa Ana, California. I was a student at Santa Ana Valley High School, Where I got involved in a physical relationship with my Sociology teacher; you noticed I did not say emotional relationship. Not old enough to understand emotional relationships. It was 1983, my freshman year. I had started freshman school year at Santa Ana High School but then later transferred to Valley High School. Being a naïve 16-year-old girl and excited at the fact that an older man was interested in me, he was grooming me for his own benefit. You see, at 16 and 15 1/2, you’re not old enough to understand those types of relationships because those are emotional relationships, and you’re not quite fully developed for all that nor do you realize the fact that your entire life will be destroyed, just by having that relationship with an older man, they are develop, but you’re not mentally developed, the point of me writing this book was to show how what seems Glamorous is Actually Traumatic and Your life will never be the same. Until you learn and Deal with the guilt and shame you put on yourself, then one day, once you have healed, you stop Blaming Yourself and Learn to Love yourself unconditionally. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My main struggles are other people’s opinions, Once I realize this is my journey has nothing to do with anyone else’s. People are happy for you, but some people will never be happy for you. You just have to learn to be happy for yourself… 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an author. I wrote my first book about my experience of getting pregnant by my high school sociology teacher and giving birth to my beautiful daughter, Jennifer Steen. I am currently working on my second book, which will give more detail from the first book about the struggles and the threats that I endured along his journey. From the people who have been there for me to the ones who only have negative things to say, negativity will not stop me. I am so proud of my kids and my grandkids, there really isn’t anything that set me apart from anyone else. I’m just an average person. I do not have a lot of friends. I have a big family, but I choose to walk alone. I put all my faith in God. 

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Unconditional. Love, Long Days, and Nights, and never let any be the final answer. Find another way around No!
