Meet Taylor Wall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Wall.

Taylor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I ventured to LA on a spontaneous journey. No plan, I was 18 years old, just finished high school and three months later, I was on a plane to a place I’d eventually call home. My sister gave me the opportunity to move to Los Angeles, CA and stay with her for my first year and I did not hesitate to make this happen.

I always knew I wanted to go to UCLA to fulfill my career goal of becoming a pediatrician or OB/Midwife. I quickly started college at SMC (Santa Monica college) to begin my two years transfer into the school of my dreams. Shortly after, I got a job as a hostess at Olive Garden. Three days into being in LA my sister already had a photoshoot planned for us. I had already been interested in modeling when I left my home in Orlando, Florida. Being in front of the camera was just a natural thing for me! (Shoutout to my mom, who never let us go a moment without capturing one. LOL!)

As I was in school and working, I figured modeling would be a nice side gig and I made accounts on Model Mayhem and La Casting to find work and to collaborate with Photographers around the city. I created and expanded my portfolio instantly and used social media to share the amazing pictures photographed of me. I would use hashtags and add my location which led to more photographers and companies reaching out! Eventually, I started to take modeling more and more serious as I discovered it was a true passion. I remember when I got my first ever paid gig and it was through La Casting. This job connected me with social media influencers and other people in the industry who then showed me the true meaning of networking and how to do it. Truly it was a butterfly effect from there. One shoot after another!

Eventually, I decided that I wanted to spread my wings and fly. After my year was up at my sister’s, I moved out. It wasn’t easy navigating the whole roommate situation… if you live in LA then you know exactly what I mean. I quickly realized that going to school and working was overwhelming, stressful and not putting enough money in my pockets to survive. I couldn’t do both and live on my own. School had to go. It was always going to be there anyway. As I struggled to get on my feet, I ended up homeless a couple of times. From couch surfing to sleeping in my car at nights, to living in a studio apartment with six people. Enough was enough, I quit my job and returned back home to Orlando for a few months to figure out a solution. Graciously prior leaving, I met a generous caring friend who offered me to be her roommate. Being back in La gave me a drive and determination like no other. I decided to take on modeling full time.

I started off doing many photoshoots, runway a couple of times, and plenty of music videos. I even did background work on a featured film and for insecure HBO. Like I said before, getting work was like a butterfly effect. You work on one thing, they like your personality, and you’re on to the next job. As my followers grew on social media, it opened a door of opportunities, collaborations, promotions and more. I have been blessed to meet amazing people who have given me the time of day to work on different sets. It’s truly amazing how much opportunity there is in the industry. Social media has also been a great outlet for myself and my brand. That also became work for me. Having an increase in followers led to more paid brand collaborations. Lately, I’ve been looking to work more in the acting industry. I plan to take acting classes and further expand my portfolio in all that I’m capable of.

I have a hidden talent that I’m also secretly passionate about that only those who are close to me really know about. I have the God given talent to sing—and more than anything, I want to make use of it. Part of me has held on to too much fear and doubt to actually do something about it. At some point in your life you just have to go after everything you love. Singing is something I admire. Something that just feels good to the soul. I plan to share this very soon.

I recently found out I’m pregnant with my first child. I will be three months on July 21, 2020. If I thought I was driven before, I’m even more motivated now. This was not a planned pregnancy and I don’t believe that when you have a kid, your life is over.. if anything my life has just begun. I’m nowhere near where I want to be in my career and I have a ways to go. Yet I know, God has an extraordinary plan for my life. I’m 22 years old, thriving, growing and learning. Every step I take is a blessing and I’ll be proud to inspire someone along the way. The journey is the reward. 💛

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. The struggle is real and I’ve faced many trials and tribulations along the way. I’ve dealt with being homeless, sleeping in my car at night. I couldn’t afford to stay in school and I didn’t realize how expensive LA really was until I had to learn to become an adult. Responsibilities were a challenge. Adjusting to the new atmosphere in general was also difficult. I missed the rain and fresh air, clean streets and cheaper living. The thing is La might always be a love/hate relationship.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a model and aspiring actress. I specialize in creativity, photography, modeling, fashion, music, etc… I am the art in my work. I’m proud of my character, remaining true to myself and not selling who I am for anything. I am my brand and I’m not limited to anything! I love to try new things. I’m spontaneous and not afraid to go after what I want. When I set my mind to it, there’s no stopping me. What sets me apart is me being unapologetically me.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not sure I believe in luck. I do believe in blessings. I’ve been blessed to even be living here in Los Angeles. To have a roof over my head, food in my refrigerator, and the ability to make money. I have been blessed to work with well-known artists, directors, actors and so on. Blessings have played the biggest part in my life and business regardless of any setbacks.
