Meet Tawny Ellis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawny Ellis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tawny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an artist, a singer-songwriter. I have a new record coming out on July 24th. “Love Life” is a very personal record, I have been working on it for about three years. I was born in Savannah, Georgia and was a military kid living all over the place most of my childhood.

I came to LA with my dreams of playing music and have been making music ever since. This will be my 4th full album release. I live in Silver Lake. I am also a visual artist working in clay and casting in bronze. I am happy as long as I can be creative!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am a very independent artist. I like to call my own shots but it is challenging, the music business is not the easiest career to navigate! I stick to the creative work and do my best to get the business side of things done as well. I’m learning more as I go but I keep the focus on the art!

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I write my own music, I play the lap Steel Guitar and I play an instrument called the Omni chord.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I don’t try to fit into any box of genre. I think it’s wonderful to be inspired by other artists but the most important thing you can do is find your own original voice! I do feel like I have found mine, more so on this record than ever before!
