Meet Jongman Kim of Studio Space in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jongman Kim.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hi, my name is Jongman Kim.

I live in the center of Hollywood.

I’m a Producer, writer, actor, acting coach in Hollywood and Korea both countries.

I’d love to share my Hollywood Story with Voyage LA.

Recently a Korean feature film “Idol” I’m in it, went to 69th Berlin Film Festival. And it released lots of theaters in Korea. It was 10 Million budget feature. I did an important supporting character as Kim Yong-Gu who is blackmailing to two lead roles in this movie.

I was a main actor on Apple iPhone TV commercial worldwide. It aired on all of the TV channels in America Nationally and all over the world includes Canada, Japan, Korea, United Kingdom, India, France, Russia, Singapore, Mexico, etc…

And It was on main YOUTUBE home page ads for several weeks. It has a thumbnail shot with my face as Asian Elvis. The commercial has about 100 Million Views so far.

The Director of Photography(DP) of this commercial was Oscar winner DP from “La La Land” “First Man”.

I did Guest Star role on ABC TV show “Speechless” Season 3 E 18. I did as a KoreanBand leader. I sang a famous Korean song and acted as a really mean Band Leader. I shot this Episode at Fox Studios in LA.

I did Netflix TV show “LOVE” season2 as a Recurring guest star. It was my first Breakthrough Hollywood role. People notice me on the street and restaurants in LA because of this role I did. I did as a mean successful Korean movie director.

I acted with “Randall Park” who acted as. my assistant and “Paul Rust” as a lead role and writer and executive producer along with Jodd Apatow. “Randall Park” ‘s Netflix movie “Always Be my Maybe” just released.

And I appeared on FX TV show “You’re the Worst” season5 E 13 as a Lead Actor’s wedding photographer.

I also produced, wrote, acted as lead role in my international feature film “And the dream that mattered” It won at 26th Korean Cultural Academy award” as Best independent feature.

I produced, wrote, acted as lead in a short film “She Jang” it’s on Amazon Prime now.

And I’m producing my 2nd International feature film. We will shoot in Greece in July and August.

And a music video I did Lead role just released. The artist is a famous rapper “dumbfounded” I acted as his old version. “Dumbfounded” won championship as World championship on Best Freestyle rapper.

I’ve played in 50 theaters in Seoul Korea and NYC, LA America.

I’m a CEO of Acting Studio & Production Company “JM’s Studio Space” in Hollywood and Korea. Also, I’m coaching Korean actors in Korea and LA to get their dream through my Acting Studio “JM’s Studio Space” and my International Acting Workshop in Korea, Hawai, Hollywood, New York, Greece, etc.

I’ve been running my Acting Workshop for five years in Hollywood, Hawaii, Seoul Korea. And it will be in Santorini Greece in July 15th ~ 24th for two weeks.

I’d love to inspire people and support people through my Acting career and Producing movies and running my Acting Studio and Acting Workshop.

I’m represented by Agency “Jenny Stricklin Talent Agency” and management company “Me2management” in America. Also, I’m represented by Korean management company “Clovercompany” in Korea.

So I’m able to inspire more people in America and Korea and more and more.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
First of all, I couldn’t speak in English at all when I moved to NYC in 2011.

People think that I couldn’t make it here in America as an actor, I needed to act in English not only speaking with people.

Second of all, I didn’t have enough money to support me so I did Airbnb manager to make money while I’m attending Acting Studios and schools.

I made my own lunch box and dinner box with rice and a fried egg or dried anchovy every day. Cause I couldn’t afford to buy the food from Deli or restaurant in New York City.

Third of all, I had a huge depression constantly when I moved to LA cause I couldn’t get the work for a while. I was on student visa F1 so I need to get the O1 visa for artist to work here in Hollywood. It takes time and lots of money to spend on filing visa process.

And finding right Agency, manager, auditions, etc. like there’s always challenging things coming. I had to overcome all of obstacles.

While I was confronting, I never stopped to training myself at Acting Studios in NYC & HOLLYWOOD. So I need to spend all of my money on Acting Studios to be better and better and better.

And I created my own Acting Studio throughout my own Acting Workshop in Korea and Hollywood and Hawai and Greece and Koreatown LA.

No one believes that I can make my own Acting Studio “JM’s Studio Space” so I have to have faith on my gut says that “I wanna inspire people so they can pursue their dream without Give Up.”

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Studio Space – what should we know?
My company is “JM’s Studio Space”

It’s a Film Production Company and Acting Studio for all artists and people want to create.

We provide Acting technique and Public Speech skill, Self Expression skill, How to produce film and create your own products and networking opportunities with filmmakers.

We are supporting the artist’s dream goal until they make it. And this unique Community, we created to support each other’s dream. So we’re having strong connections Internationally. Especially the Korean Entertainment Industry and Hollywood Industry.

My father, Mother, my brother are my best supporters. Without them, I couldn’t make it.

They support me mentally and financially as well. Although they didn’t even have enough money for them.

And all of my filmmaker friends in New York, Hollywood, Korea and from all over the world.
