Today we’d like to introduce you to Shon Hill.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m from the east side of Long Beach I started making music in the band then go into a performance arts school in Atlanta and started learning music from the inside out then moved back to Long Beach and found a love for writing music started at 16 and dropped my first tape at 18, six projects later I’m signed a small deal with empire records I’m currently working on developing my sound and brand.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve slept in cars, couches, floors just to chase my goals it wasn’t until last year that I decided being a starving artist wasn’t for me anymore. I want to come in these big meetings with some sort of leverage you aren’t a boss until you put your own money up.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I started a film company called “Happy Hood films” basically my goal is to change the narrative in black films change how they look at the less fortunate I want to shed more light on how we kept our smiles through the struggle, give people more optimism to make it.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Optimism and being relentless.
