Meet Sherman Oaks Business Attorney, Film Producer, and Photographer: Vahan Yepremyan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vahan Yepremyan.

Vahan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have a passion for traveling (have been to over 60 countries) and have a passion for photography, so I have combined my 2 passions into travel photography. My involvement in children’s rights organizations has taken me to exotic locations, such as Cambodia, Guatemala, Russia, Armenia, etc. My camera has allowed me to capture some very special moments and tell stories of heartbreak, beauty, perseverance, faith, and friendship. I am currently in talks with an adventure travel company, to do their photography for various trips around the globe (Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, Galapagos Islands, etc.). I am also in discussion with a publishing company for a coffee table book.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge for me has been time and balancing different responsibilities such as work, family, and friends.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The switch from analog to digital, and the continued development of user-friendly technology will continue to make photography more accessible to non-professional photographers, who will continue to use their artistic vision and imagination to capture the beauty of everyday life. And the social media and on-line magazines, such as Voyage LA, will continue to give the platform to share these images with the world.

Has there been a particular challenge that you’ve faced over the years?
For me, the biggest challenge has been to define my style of photography. This is also an on-going process, tied with and influenced by my growth and development as a photographer.

Let’s change gears – is there any advice you’d like to give?
My advice for those starting out in photography would be not to focus on the latest and fancy gear. Just get started with whatever you can get your hands on or afford, and begin to capture special moments around you. And keep shooting!
