Meet Sabrina Rodriguez of Sabrina Rodriguez Photography in West Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Rodriguez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My interest in photography all started when my parents got me my first digital Kodak camera. I was so fascinated that I could take pictures and instantly print them with the little portable printer it came with. Before, I had always bought the wind-up cameras and waited what felt like forever to have the pictures processed.

I’ve always felt like I’ve had a horrible memory. Looking at pictures I always felt like I was right back in that exact moment. I loved creating scrapbooks, albums, and collages for my family and friends. It always made me happy to share those moments I captured with them.

In 2013, I moved to Los Angeles. After the company I worked for closed its doors I saw an opportunity to pursue something on my own. In 2015 I started my photography business. This past May I celebrated my 1 year anniversary. I’m very optimistic about my future and look forward to growing my business!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wouldn’t say smooth, there have definitely been some bumps in the road. Starting a business sounds easier said than done. I learned that I needed to be my own bookkeeper, marketer, planner, designer… the list goes on. I had to spend some time researching and learning how to run this on my own.

Sabrina Rodriguez Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a natural light photographer. I mainly shoot portraits and also shoot fitness photography. I’m pretty proud of myself for being able to get people to be so comfortable while I photograph them. I think it’s important to feel natural and create an atmosphere where they feel true to themselves. That’s what I want to capture when I’m shooting.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me being successful means being able to support myself doing something that I love while also helping other people capture and remember the special moments in their lives.

There aren’t any specific markers I’m looking for other than that. I envision success more as a path rather than a destination.
