Meet Ronald Dizon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Dizon.

Hi Ronald, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
2017 is when my mom and I were having a conversation not sure exactly how it came up, but she had mentioned about Filipino Coffee. For some reason that was the trigger word that sent me down the rabbit hole. Now just a little back Story, I’ve always had a passion for cars, even when I was younger that’s all I played with. The reason why I share this story its because it has to do with a lot of who I am. It help me develop a different mindset, 2o year later, I still have that passion and still work in this industry as Senior Test Engineer, started professionally at Buena Park Honda and worked my way up to the Corporate 2year after college, (America Honda interned in Technical Training, soon after Auto Engineering divisions) Hyundai Technical Center Engineering, Toyota Technical Center Engineering, SpaceX, currently @ Faraday Future. Grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given. Before I got into the deep dive, I had to dig a little about facts about Filipino Coffee, amazing to find that historically it’s been cultivated in the Philippines as early as 1740, 1800s is when we were the largest supplier, 1889 is when we lost that title due coffee rust. Since then, our people have been keeping this tradition and that’s where Teofilo’s steps in so that people don’t forget that we’ve been in the coffee game, and we deserve the respect. Not sure why the coffee society does not recognize this but like I said that’s where our own people need to boast about how great our coffees are. Philippines cultivates: Award-winning Arabica 60% & Robusta 40%, Excelsa 7%, Liberica 2%. I do not need to be convinced, I know we deserve some recognition 1740~2022 and I’m not waiting on a certain society to finally say something. Also, in 1909 Philippines was in Pikes Place before Starbucks serving Liberica AKA (Barako). Our mission at Teofilo’s “giving back to the Philippines” really easy purpose and why we’re here. 3 pillars 1. Uncomfortable work, the more you get comfortable with that thought everything becomes so much easier. 2. Authenticity, come as you are do not change yourself and how you act around others, that’s why you’re special. 3. Execution don’t talk about it just do it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every great company needs struggle in order to tell a story, I couldn’t imagine that SpaceX, Tesla, Walt Disney, Steve Jobs. etc… say that everything was linear to success. It would be too easy to list out all my struggles so that people could maybe sympathize, but truly no need. Because if my Great Grand Father Jose Abad Santos acting President of the Philippines during WWII was executed by Japanese would laugh at my “struggles”. I just look at struggles as puzzles all solvable.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My passion is my people, like I mentioned simple mission at Teofilos is to give back to the Philippines. Here is how I envision it; I believe if I convince the world that Filipino Coffee is as great as I say other countries or even North America would invest that way that I do now. It would definitely move the need in changing our economy. I’m just prideful for my people I believe we are the hardest workers in the room and just don’t brag about it, we just get it done. What sets us apart from other is no one knows the direction I’m going; anyone can try but I guarantee they just don’t know me. I won’t quit.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Be open to learn new things, if your mindset stays closed your ruining the opportunity to learn something new.
