Meet RiRi

Today we’d like to introduce you to RiRi.

RiRi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was working in a corporate office processing loan payments. I had a regular 9-5 job but I wanted something more out of life. I wanted to do something that made me truly happy. Art is something that has always made me happy. One day at work I prayed and asked God to give me a business we’re I could be my own boss and do something I would love that would be creative. I’ve always been into beauty so I decided to look up beauty schools and found a school although I wanted to do makeup and enroll in the esthetician program, the program was full and I found out about the nail tech program so I enrolled. I stepped out on faith and enrolled even though I had a job and I left my job to go to school for nails. It took months of schooling and practicing for me to get good at my craft but I finally started to build up clientele. Now today, I run my own nail business I do nails and teach others how to do nails and travel to different places to do nails.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been an easy road. When I left my job to go to school for nails, it was a struggle for me in the beginning. At one point, I had no income no way of working because school was full-time I still remember days of hardly having any money for gas or lunch but determined to get to school and make it through the day. After I graduated, I remember feeling like giving up many times because I had no clients when I first started, I had to offer free sets just to build up my business.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I do creative nail sets. I love drawing on nails, applying a lot of bling. Most people that book with me are people who love really fancy nail designs and long nail designs. I get a lot of people who book with me for special occasions birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck but I believe God has a way of showing us what direction to take in life and helping us get to where we need to be.
