Meet Renato Mardo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renato Mardo.

Hi Renato, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started doing silkscreen prints as a side hustle while working a full-time job as a production artist. I started with a small setup in my bedroom and slowly built my clientele. It got to a point where I was working 40 hours at my job and 40 hours on my side hustle. 2020 came along and my job laid off 250 people. I was one of those people, luckily I had built this side business so from there on, I just decided to only work for myself.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth rode. There was a learning process and I’m glad people I knew decided to work with me as I grew, those same people are now some of my best clients. A lot of people who I started to print for were starting their businesses themselves, so we kind of grew together.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do silkscreen printing and DTG printing. I specialize in smaller qtys and fast turn around. My minimum order is 12 pieces, a lot of the bigger print shops require large orders. What makes my shop different then others is that I am a small business and I deal directly with my clients. It’s not a team or a salesperson speaking to you about your order while someone else does your prints. So my clients get to know the process and I can make sure they get exactly what they want or need.

What’s next?
Right now, I operate out of my small garage. In the near future, I have plans to expand and move into a larger workspace and eventually upgrade to larger machinery/ equipment.
