Meet Regina Ibarra of Downtown Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Ibarra.

Hi Regina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am seasoned healthcare professional with a diverse background that began in 2010 as a Medical Assistant across various specialties. After five years, I transitioned to focusing on trauma patients at Urgent Care Centers throughout Los Angeles with UrgentMed, a company that has since expanded to over 40 locations as Exer Urgent Care. Balancing a demanding schedule with a family of six, I was driven by a commitment to provide for my children, especially as a young mother.
My current role at IMED DTLA began after my previous urgent care employer retired. The opportunity arose unexpectedly through Indeed, and I was swiftly interviewed by Dr. Zeger and Dr. Paul. Despite initial anxieties about my visible tattoos, I was committed to showcasing my professional capabilities. Upon joining, I immediately recognized the need for significant operational improvements, as the practice had faced previous challenges and staff morale was low. I quickly implemented changes, and with the departure of the existing staff, I was able to fully dedicate myself to transforming the practice.
Since then, I have diligently worked to enhance IMED DTLA’s visibility and patient engagement, notably by introducing and strategically managing their social media presence, branding them as “Doctor Downtown” and “Doctor Bueno.” Over the past two and a half years, our daily patient volume has significantly increased from 5-10 to 30-45. Furthermore, we have successfully diversified our insurance reimbursements, leading to a substantial increase in revenue per visit. Our community involvement has expanded through partnerships with Power106 Brownbag show, allowing us to network with notable figures. This week, I also secured a significant affiliation for both doctors as the first chiropractors for PIH Hospital Los Angeles, specializing in chiropractic and personal injury cases. This growth reflects our dedicated efforts to establish IMED DTLA as a leading chiropractic office in Downtown Los Angeles, and I am incredibly proud of our team’s accomplishments and potential.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not let me tell you, From not having enough money to budget Ads, Hire more staff, & Also my tattoos or social media skits a lot of doors were closed. We have been looked down upon because the IMED girls were too hood/ghetto according to our experiences. The personal injury world is so cut throat I honestly feel this is worst than gang banging its a Mafia/ Mean girl world. If your not on there level you cant sit with them nor would they give you the time of day. You have to understand we have 1 white boy doctor, 1 Latino doctor, 1 chola as a manager and no one could believe I was the manager they always thought Brittany was who worked with us at the time. I get a kick out of it because I do not speak like I’m from the hood I am very intellectual once you get to know me. I was a product of my environment survival to explain it best. If I had all the opportunities you get in Beverly hills I would be a doctor for sure.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
