Meet Raymar Brunson of Gary, IN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymar Brunson.

Hi Raymar , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In early 2023 I decided to pursue a career in comics after spending several years working in photography/videography. I started to post my art on instagram and facebook while joining as many online comic groups as I could. From there I met a lot of people who helped me improve and I slowly started to get work. By summer 2024, the first issue of my creator owned comic Ghost Man was published through Cosmic Lion Productions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly wasn’t and still isn’t a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was learning to draw so many things I had never attempted to draw before. I had heard many times that you have to learn to draw everything if you want to draw comics. I immediately realized how true that is.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I mostly do comics and art commissions. I mostly work traditionally with ink and there some digital touch ups in my printed comics. I’m not sure what I “specialize” in but people definitely knew me early on from making some hyper violent comics. I’ve slightly gotten away from that. The work I’m most proud of has to be my Ghost Man comics. It’s a character that’s been with me for a long time and sharing him with others is always great. It’s a pretty goofy book at times but people really seem to like it. I get weird when it comes to talking about my own work and what makes it stand out. People have told me that they like the simplicity of my style.
