Meet Rachelle Yadegar and Judith Illulian of RaJu official

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Yadegar and Judith Illulian.

Rachelle and Judith, please share your story with us.  How did it all start?
RaJu started about 2 years in a coffee shop, with our office in our cars – literally- now we are in over 30 stores, with a huge online clientele and a cute space in downtown la. How did we choose the name? Take a little guess – RAJU – Rachelle and Judith. It could have been the other way around JARU but that means broom in Farsi lol.

Both growing up in orthodox Jewish Persian community, we saw the need for modest garments that one can feel beautiful and confident in. It all started one day at a coffee shop, Judith begging me to start the line, I was the one that was hesitant. But we did it, of course there are its ups and down and being your boss is amazing but yet scary. But we love what we do. We get to create and design and make people feel good without being provocative. Our goal is to introduce modest fashion to as many ladies we can, but in a beautiful light. People have this idea that dressing modesty is something ugly and schlumpy, but we are here to change that.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We love this question! Nothing great, ever comes easy. Like any other business you have your ups and downs. It’s a rollercoaster, but a great one. Things from orders getting messed up, patterns coming out the wrong way, the worst and our absolute nightmare – the warehouse running out of our fabric. So yes, it’s not the smoothest road, but A. We have each other and B. The finishing product is all worth it. You see, you get too see your idea, come alive. From the sketch, to the pattern to choosing the perfect fabrication and cut … in the end it’s all worth it!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about RaJu official | A contemporary women’s clothing line that celebrates modesty – what should we know?
Starting RaJu, we knew from the beginning it would be a modest clothing line. As we’ve mentioned, both of us growing up in the orthodox Jewish Persian community we saw that there was an absolute need for this. There is an elegance when it comes to designing and creating a RaJu garment. We design clothing to be modest, fashion forward and comfortable with the most exquisite fabrication and attention to every detail.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being an entrepreneur demands commitment and dedication. You can’t just wake up at 12pm every day and expect things to get done. Have a goal set, a road map, and a plan. If not you may have great ideas but just get lost in the process.

Judith and I are so very different in a good way. We have completely different styles. They say the most successful people are the ones that are open minded. We both listen to each other and see what we both have to say.

Lastly, having amazing customer service to our clients. Being able to listen and seeing exactly what they need.
