Meet Paul Stoakes of DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Stoakes.

Hi Paul, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Im an immigrant who came to this country over 40 years ago with nothing in my pockets but a big dream to start my own company. I started in the sign industry almost 30 years ago, built this company to what is now, we are the premier historical sign company / endorsed by the Museum of Neon Art, We are a full service shop , manufacture / design / install , consult / permit. Not many companies can handle what we do. Many say it cant be done yet we are proof its possible.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any business we have had our highs and lows, Cashflow, & employees have typically been our biggest challenges. Like all businesses we had to make changes durng COVID and we managed to survive. Now our biggest challenge is the situation with the economy, tariffs and immigration.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a design-oriented boutique , build install sign co, we are the West Coasts biggest neon / fabricator we shop out all over the US, We are a UL listed company. Our work is custom made to clients desire. We make their vision come to life.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
swimming in the river near my childhood home, enjoying my fathers amazing food
