Meet Dapper Pasadena Photographer: Dwayne Jenkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwayne Jenkins.

Dwayne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out shooting family and friends. I taught myself how to use the camera by watching youtube videos and practicing. With consistency, I expanded my clientele and found a love for fashion and portraiture.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge I faced was trying to find a balance between working as a substitute teacher, going to school, and finding time to shoot.

What are your plans for the future?
For the future, I plan that continue in fashion and lifestyle photography. I am currently teaching full time and plan to continue with my photography as well.

Let’s explore some of the challenges you’ve faced along the way. What was the most difficult part of your career so far?
I’d have to say the hardest time in my career was in the beginning. I found myself constantly struggling to book clients. I was under the impression it was due to the fact that my portfolio was not as deep as it is today.

Are there days when you feel like you’ve done everything you wanted to, careerwise – the “I’ve made it” kind of moments?
My first “wow” moment was when I was first published in an online blog for which I worked as an intern.
