Meet Paloma Rush

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paloma Rush.

Paloma, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I consider myself a Latin Pop artist with song in both English and Spanish, with pop, urban, and Latin style beats.

My journey started young, as I was singing since I could talk, doing my first studio recording for a children’s album at age six in Monterey, CA where I was born. My whole life I’ve taken vocal training, piano lessons, dance and acting. Basically, I never missed an opportunity to perform in front of my school, at church, or for community events. The fun part was discovering I could write a song on the piano with my own lyrics and melodies. Once I discovered that at age 14, I started joining bands as the lead singer/songwriter. I had so much fun entering Battle of the Bands contests and lightly touring around the county, recording our songs at studios.

I then moved to central Mexico where I joined bands there and we played music in Spanish and sang in bars and nightclubs.

After moving back to California for college, I was approached and signed by management at age 18. They put me in front of serious industry producers and songwriters to collaborate with. We made some music videos, I had shows twice a month, and I even had the opportunity to tour nationally with Interscope Records and the opening act for Robyn’s Body Talk tour.

Then to take my career to the next level, I moved myself down here to LA, where I’ve been writing and recording music. I have had placements on tons of TV shows like Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Jane The Virgin, MTV Real World, and some films too including Cat Run and Lionsgate Release Hunter’s Moon just to name a few. I write songs for producers working on pop, K pop, Latin and hip hop.

You can find my music on all streaming platforms with numbers into the hundreds of thousands and see me performing live (usually in Hollywood.)

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
People joke around that I just fly through life. But that’s because they don’t see the hard work I put in to make sure I’m always taking care of myself financially, emotionally, and career-wise. Sure, there have been a few times where I doubted my ability for success, but that’s par for the course of being an artist. No matter what happens, I land on my feet.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer and a songwriter. I specialize in songs in English and Spanish and sometimes a mix of the two! I can still say I’m proud whenever I write a new song. It’s a skill I’ve worked at getting better at and it blows me away every time a song starts with the tiniest seed of an idea, and then after working with a producer or songwriter, it becomes this fully produced song that sounds radio ready. That process will never cease to amaze me. I absolutely love being on stage as well. There is something so comfortable for me being in front of an audience. I swear I am more comfortable that most artists I meet. I’m just happy singing my songs, busting out fun dance moves, and lightly chatting with the crowd. I truly feel I was born for this type of work, and I enjoy every minute.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
What I think is that it could easily happen again. And as an artist, you want to have a nice at home setup for content and streamed shows.
