Today we’d like to introduce you to Ola Avedissian
Hi Ola, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I discovered yoga in my late 20s, almost by accident. I had originally set out to try a Pilates class but was drawn instead to a hot yoga studio. That first class was 90 minutes of pure challenge—grueling, intense, and taught entirely in Spanish. Even though I considered myself fit, I was sprawled out on the floor by the end, laughing at how much I struggled. But something about it clicked. The people around me seemed superhuman, thriving in the heat and pushing their limits. I was hooked.
What started as a physical practice quickly turned into something much deeper. I began to understand my body in a new way, tuning into its needs, and tapping into a connection with myself that felt instinctual and grounding. I kept going back, each class peeling back a layer, each movement teaching me something new.
Through training, certifications, and countless hours of practice, I built a life centered on movement and mindfulness. Over the years, I’ve gained certifications across various practices—from Pilates and power yoga to meditation and restorative movement.
Today, I’m passionate about sharing this journey with others. My work is about more than fitness; it’s about self-love, resilience, and empowering others to unlock the best versions of themselves. I believe that with a little persistence and a lot of heart, everyone can find their finest self. And that’s why I’m here—to guide others along their own journey to balance, joy, and fulfillment.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey became even more challenging—and rewarding—when I started working with teenagers in a rehab facility. Every day was a new lesson in resilience, patience, and the unexpected. These young people were navigating some of life’s toughest challenges, and supporting them wasn’t always easy. Some days were breakthroughs; others felt like setbacks. Each moment required me to be fully present, adaptable, and compassionate in ways I hadn’t experienced before.
Working with them gave my journey new meaning. It challenged me to dig deeper, to be a steady presence amidst their uncertainty, and to find creative ways to connect and inspire. I quickly learned that I couldn’t predict what each day would bring, but that unpredictability has made me a stronger teacher and a better listener. Helping these teens discover their own inner strength, even when they couldn’t see it themselves, became one of my greatest honors and one of my greatest challenges. This work has taught me that real growth often happens in the most unpredictable and messy moments.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my work, I blend movement, mindfulness, and self-discovery to guide people toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. My focus lies in helping others connect with themselves on a deeper level, whether through yoga, Pilates, or meditation. One of my specialties is working with teenagers in rehab facilities, which has taught me to be adaptive, present, and intuitive. Every session is a new opportunity to connect with these young people, helping them find strength and resilience within themselves.
What sets me apart is my approach to teaching. I don’t just focus on physical fitness; I view each practice as a journey of inner growth and empowerment. I’m proud of creating safe, compassionate spaces where people can let go, challenge themselves, and explore new possibilities. This work has taught me that real transformation happens when we blend discipline with empathy and that every individual has the power to unlock their best self with the right support.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Some of my favorite resources are deeply rooted in wisdom and practical insights. Autobiography of a Yogi by Yogananda has been transformative for me, offering a spiritual depth that grounds my own practice. I’m also a huge fan of Andrew Huberman’s podcast, which brings science and wellness together in such an accessible way. And, of course, Wayne Dyer’s teachings are a constant source of inspiration, reminding me to stay aligned with purpose and intuition.
Beyond these, I also find immense value in The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, which encourages living fully in the present moment. I often turn to the 10% Happier app for guided meditations, which help keep me centered, especially on busy days. These resources remind me that growth is both a personal journey and a shared experience, and they inspire me to keep learning and evolving in my work and life.
