Today we’d like to introduce you to Nuen Khanh Nguyen.
Born in the City of Saigon, Vietnam; and raised by a hardworking Vietnamese American family in Orange County, United State. Nuen was an eccentric young woman who has an old soul and has an appreciation for art, beauty, and culture. She began her career as a makeup artist in 2011, working her way in Los Angeles, and Vietnamese American Community in Orange County. As a makeup artist, her style often simple, yet well accented and conceptual.
One of her specialty is doing makeup on South East Asian Beauties, due to her experience in Vietnamese Beauty Pageants, and Asian Beauty Editorial. in 2015, she also launched a second website: www.artistrybynuen.com to dedicate her work for print, commercial and runway… She is now temporarily relocating in the City of Henderson, Nevada with two beautiful dogs and her childhood partner and often travel to Los Angeles and Orange County.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If something is easy, everybody would be doing it, so it has been a pretty rough road. The struggles were: getting to know the new areas, networking, gaining the public’s respect and time managing. Living to the fullest is hard when you have to juggle between passion, work, education, and relationships.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Beauty Embracer – what should we know?
The Beauty Embracer’s goal is to embrace all types of beauty and be socially conscious. My Artist’s specialties are bridal, beauty, runway, editorial. the proudest moment of my life was to be selected as one of a makeup artist for Viet Fashion Week. Not only because I am a proud Vietnamese, but Viet Fashion Week’s organization is whom I grow up with, associate with and where they showcase the trendiest Vietnamese American’s Fashion.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I am very sensitive and aware of my surroundings, especially when it comes to social awareness, which makes me a “good” perfectionist. To do makeup and to find out my client’s skin-tone, what they would like is an honor because getting to know their beauty means getting to know their background, knowing their story and what they are honoring.
