Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Leal.
Nicole, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a hairstylist/ Independent Educator for almost two decades. I went through cosmetology school my senior year in high school and thought this was just going to be a trade occupation to get me through college. I absolutely fell in love with being a hairstylist and most importantly educating.
I got involved with teaching other stylists early on in my career with company’s Wella and Sebastian. I was giving global presentation by the age of 22 and decided to go to college during this time. Received my B.A. in Communications Studies and continued to grow in my profession. I worked at one of LA’s high-end salon and pioneered the way for independent educators to teach to other stylists. Today, I’m servicing clients at a salon called Powder and Bloom located inside Allbright on Melrose Place and starting a hair Education initiative that will give back to cosmetology students. Clients/stylists can reach me at [email protected].
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I wouldn’t take any of it back. I’ve learned that working with someone is different than working for them. Negotiating what you need is so important because the only person that has your best interest is you. Lastly, the grass isn’t always greener but the minute my passion is being compromised I know it’s time for a change.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nicole Leal Creative Agency – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’m in the business of making people feel great and delivering exceptional customer service AKA I’m more than a hairstylist. I specialize is cut, color, and extensions while trying to be a really great listener to my clients. This business has always been about connecting with my clients versus just hair. I’m most proud of having a strong business sense and helping other professionals improve their skills. What sets me apart from others is I see the importance of building relationships with clients and supporting other stylists in their career.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about our city is that I can truly call it home. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. And my mom was born in Los Angeles, went to Hollywood High and graduated at the Hollywood bowl, which I think is the coolest thing. What I like least about the city is the traffic.
