Meet Nate Lyles of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Lyles.

Hi Nate, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Blessed to be fully supported by my family from a young age, I was drawn to both storytelling and physical discipline. I found myself magnetically drawn to creativity early on thanks to Mrs. Cora Turlish’s school theater, Mr. Tony Mento’s spoken word class, and Dr. Steven Loy’s comedy class, where I began connecting to character and performance. I appreciate y’all. At the same time, I was developing as an athlete, which led me to compete in the NCAA for four years where I was supported by Kean University’s President Dr. Lamont Repollet. The upmost respect for him. That experience taught me how to handle pressure, stay consistent, and show up prepared—skills that directly translate into my work as an actor.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Theater and continued training at the Identity School of Acting in London, where I focused on building truth, presence, and emotional accessibility in my work. Early in my professional career, I had the opportunity to appear on Sascha Penn’s Power Book II: Ghost, which I’m genuinely grateful for. Being on that set gave me a clear understanding of the level of professionalism and focus required in television. The experience reinforced the direction I want to keep moving in.

Today, my approach to acting is both internal and physical. My athletic background informs how I move, prepare, and bring authenticity to roles that demand both emotional depth and physical capability. I’m especially drawn to grounded, high-stakes storytelling in action, adventure, and genre-driven projects, and I approach the work with discipline, curiosity, and a strong collaborative mindset.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road? I honestly don’t even know what that looks like. Talking about training from your previous question—right now it feels like I’m in boot camp as God’s strongest warrior. It’s exhausting, no doubt, but I also know I wouldn’t have made it a single step without Him. Since 2020, I’m sure we’ve all seen how the pandemic hit people at the worst possible moments—I met an older man who had a deal lined up that would’ve setup his entire retirement—gone overnight, a woman giving birth to a Covid baby in her car because hospitals were full, my little sister having her prom canceled and having a drive-thru graduation—they announced her name over a private radio station, and we celebrated by honking the horn. That was her big moment. Crazy. Everyone had their moment of disruption.

And then there was mine. I was building real momentum—my role on Power Book II was expanding into something bigger, and then everything shut down. Production stopped, and just like that, what felt like a pivotal opportunity in my career was gone. In the moment, it felt devastating. But when I step back, I realize something: every one of those stories felt like a breaking point at the time… and yet, we all found a way to the other side.

That’s been a theme in my life long before Covid. When I was a baby, I was constantly in and out of the hospital dealing with extreme dehydration—something I still have to stay on top of today. So yeah, I went from talking about a global pandemic to being a ‘deflated juice box’ as a kid—but stay with me. The point is, struggle shows up in different forms throughout our lives. And somehow, we make it through every time. That’s the blessing in it. So if you’re in a low moment right now, just remember—this part is temporary. Life really is about peaks and valleys. In fact, there’s a book called Peaks and Valleys by Spencer Johnson, M.D. that my therapist recommended, and it puts that idea into perspective perfectly.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Forgive me, but say it with me: Nexus Film 2027, Nexus Film 2027, Nexus Film 2027.

Director David Kirkman, our incredible cast and crew, and I have been crafting a prestige, character-driven sci-fi thriller that I truly believe will leave a mark. David entrusted me with the lead role and I can confidently say neither I nor our cast and crew fell short of distinction. The trailer is out now on YouTube and Instagram—and the response has been phenomenal. Seeing the excitement, the shares, the comments—it gave me chills. Honestly, it was that exact feeling you get when you pull up for a jumpshot and know it’s cash. In that moment of watching it for the first time, I knew: we have something special here.

Here’s a taste of the story: set against a backdrop of climate catastrophe and geopolitical tension, NEXUS follows a reluctant protagonist whose connection to an ancient energy system threatens to expose the true cost of global stability. That’s all I can give away for now, but the social buzz shows people are already invested in the reality we’re building. Check out the trailer at @NexusOfficialMovie or @NateLyles_
And yes…I’m a tease, but that’s part of the fun.

What excites me most is the collaboration with David. The creative energy on set is unmatched—we’re seeing the chemistry emulating similar to Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler as they lay out the blueprint for character-driven blockbuster storytelling, and David and I are expanding it to the next level. The talent, the precision, the originality—it all signals that Nexus isn’t just a film; it’s an experience. Fans are already responding, and with the right marketing and distribution partners, the world we’re building can reach audiences everywhere. This is the right momentum to amplify, elevate, and share something truly special—and anyone paying attention will want to be a part of it.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s one thing I’d like readers to take away, it’s that growth happens when you become comfortable in the uncomfortable. Every role, every scene, every challenge—whether it’s high-stakes sci-fi, action, or character-driven drama—pushes me to discover strength and creativity I didn’t know I had. That’s where resilience meets artistry.

Working on Nexus has reminded me of the power of collaboration. Electricity was felt being on set with David Kirkman and our cast, feeling that chemistry, and seeing ideas come alive. The trailer buzz and fan excitement online remind me that having confidence in the vision, embracing discomfort, and pushing boundaries is exactly how momentum is built.

So to anyone reading—casting directors, fans, or fellow creatives—lean into the unknown. Every step, every jump, every shot into new territory builds momentum. That’s where characters are born, stories resonate, and performances live in the hearts of audiences. That’s where you’ll find me—thriving in the uncomfortable and turning challenges into moments that people remember forever.

I couldn’t have made it this far without my support system—God, my Mom, Dad, sister Jasmine, and girlfriend Joy. I love you all and thank you for loving me. To my family and friends that have poured into me during my upbringing, they say it takes a village and I’m glad you were part of it. The greatness you see in me is a reflection of the greatness in you.
