Meet Natalie Romero-Gerbracht

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Romero-Gerbracht.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Hello, I was born in Reno, Nevada; to Showgirl and Dance Studio owner Susan Thorvick and magician, musician, and Lights designer Enrique Romero. I am the oldest of six kids, my mom only responsible for Nina and I. My dad remarried and had Melina, Christian, Tizoc Jr, and Chaz. With my beautiful step mom Vickie Romero. I grew up dancing every day after school. When I started auditioning and competing, my love for dance grew stronger.

My path to Jennifer Lopez started at age 15. Learning Polynesian, I didn’t know it then but it played a huge role in me landing my 1st job in LA. A music video for Nicole Scherzinger’s “Right There” single. This opened the door, mentally, and physically for A-list jobs and artist. Some of which are Beyoncé, Rhianna, PitBull, Icona Pop and more. I’ve performed on some of my favorite TV shows, Ellen, The Voice, American Idol. Traveling the world with these artist has been life-changing. Then, came the day I auditioned for Jennifer Lopez for the 5th time. In pervious auditions, I made it through the end of the audition cuts but never received a phone call booking me on the job. This time was different, Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo had personally invited me to a private audition. The audition went great I made it through all the cuts, Jennifer came into the audition to personally see and chose the cast for the promo tour of her album AKA. After a few days of waiting, I received a phone call from Tabitha. She stated that I wasn’t cast for the job. She then told me that she believed in me so much so, that she would be casting me as Jennifers – Stand IN. Learn and teach her all of her staging and choreography. Which mortised into me being a full time casted dancer, and stand in.

Along with my path, there were times when I had the choice to give up, doubt or believe in my circumstances. But I chose to believe in me and look for the opportunity in each rejection and silent phone calls. The result was and is living my dream. I get to dance on stage, I get to be apart of the creative process, I get to fly in private jets, I get to stay in beautiful hotels, I get to travel the world. These experiences have opened my mind’s eye to all my possibilities, mentally, spiritually and physically.

On 11/11/2018, my newlywed husband Matthew Gerbracht and I were married. We love to build and design furniture. So much so we started a business called Mattalie Design. My focus for the future is building a strong community of people and expanding on my life’s purpose.

Please tell us about your art.
My main love is dance. Dancing all types of styles on all types of stages around the world. I recently ended a three-year residency in Las Vegas with Jennifer Lopez in “All I Have.” I love choreographing and creating Jennifer Lopez’s track as her stand-in. She has very limited time, so we (the cast, production, etc.) prep everything before her arrival. Dance has expanded my art into music, fashion and surprisingly building and designing furniture. When my husband and I moved in together we needed some furniture. So, we decided to design and build our own. We love using recycled lumber and creating a new look for our home. We loved it so much we started a company. Mattalie Design. My message is no artistic dream is too big. Art can fulfill any lifestyle. You can create your own reality. Surround yourself with talented artisans, that inspire you to become your full potential. I also hope you find the balance between all aspects of your life. When you live imbalanced, it can seem impossible. I promise you are exactly where you need to be right now. Keep starving and sharing with an open heart. Art has to lead me to live a very successful and fulfilling life. Art is fueled by our hearts truest desires.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Anytime there is a financial struggle or challenging situation in my life, I take a moment and think “Why” why am I being “forced” to slow down. Have I been moving too fast, have I neglected my health or how are my relationships? I usually find some reason I need to slow down. Success to me has really changed as an adult. As a kid, I thought it meant to have a big house and lots of money. NOPE!!! Success is being happy with being you and want you to want. Money will always flow, to you, away from you and then I realized surrender to the flow and let go.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have a YouTube channel, with multiple playlists of a lot of my work. I love sharing and posting on Instagram and Facebook. Mattalie Design also has Instagram and a website http://www.mattaliedesign.com.
