Today we’d like to introduce you to Molombo Thillot.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Congolese-American Musician/Artist/Content Creator from Colorado. I’ve been creating since I could pick up a pen and I took the journey to Los Angeles to continue to pursue my passions.
Also, I have a double major Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Ethnic Studies with a minor in Geography from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Masters in Legal Studies from the Loyola Law School of Los Angeles.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Others may not call my journey a smooth road but I’m used to hardship. Compared to other major cities, Los Angeles doesn’t make it easy to find community. This city requires a certain personality, a mindset plus a wealth of experiences to truly call this place home. There were problems sure but it’s the hard times that challenge us to think, be creative, work harder, and grow.
Does it mean you should invite more problems into your life? Of course not. What this means is that you must learn to recognize the opportunities that exist within every challenge.
We don’t actually move until we are forced to. We don’t change until it’s absolutely necessary.
We just stagnate emotionally and intellectually if there is nothing to adapt to, nothing to carry, nothing to climb, nothing to find a way around.
That is why I believe it is vital to have a great dream (in my own life), something that cannot be realized without fighting and overcoming hundreds of hurdles.
It would be far more comfortable to aim for mediocrity across the board, but that would do nothing for my character, internal strength, or confidence, and, worst of all, I would never be able to elevate and inspire people if I lived such a life and had such a mindset.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When it comes to my social media presence I’m popularly known on Tiktok/Reddit/Instagram/Twitter for my “Modern Political Spectrum” series.
When it comes to music, I’m dedicated to uplifting the spirits of my listeners through immersive storytelling and empowering people through connecting to community. My lyrical manifesto is as diverse as the sounds in my music; laid-back pop-trap with a slice of life aspect, pop-punk personal mementos of an alt black experience, and hip-hop rock that rages against systemic exploitation. But there’s also a sentimental, spiritual side to what I call “Hero Trap”… and like any hero, I find time to add punch, pizazz, and hyperpop sex appeal to a down to earth character.
I have an album coming out soon called “ROMANCE DAWN”.
How do you think about happiness?
A Lot of things make me happy but the Top 3 would be:
1.) Seeing my friends accomplish their dreams.
2.) Seeing my family worrying about money less and less every year
3.) Seeing something I’ve created being praised
