Meet Molly Grace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Grace.

Molly Grace

Hi Molly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born to sing; it came to me naturally as a wobbling toddler jumping up and down on my bed reciting the lyrics to Gwen Stefani’s “Love Angel Music Baby”. In elementary school, I confessed to my parents that all I wanted to do was sing so they enrolled me into my school’s choir. My parents weren’t surprised, with my father’s undying love and commitment to music and the industry it was a no-brainer that one of their kids was destined to have “the ear”. During my middle school years, I taught myself to play guitar. By the age of 12 I joined my first rock band ‘Mean Street’, and at the age of 15 had booked a first major gig at the House of Blues Anaheim. I instantly fell in love with performing and conveying lyrics to a crowd; I knew I had to pursue and follow my dreams of being a performing Rock Star. So I started the groundwork of creating a band and birthed the first formations of ‘Funds for Jimmy’ with my drummer Dylan Knetge. Together we recorded our first EP ‘Broken Mirrors’ and most recently our debut album, ‘Bankrupt’. Currently, we’re working on more projects and continuing the journey as an up-and-coming band in Los Angeles.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road is never smooth here in Los Angeles. From potholes to traffic on your way to a gig. But seriously, being a young hungry artist in Los Angeles is challenging for so many different reasons. They expect so much from you when all you want to do is create some art, but now suddenly I have to be TikTok famous? What about the music? What does it have to do with TikTok trends and fads?

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m currently a full-time musician working at a Mom n’ Pop music store called The Fret House located in Covina CA. I do everything under the sun from guitar tech to funny TikTok videos. All while being a full-time manager, creative writer, and performer in Funds for Jimmy. As rewarding as guitar tech and viral videos are, I’m most proud of my work in Funds for Jimmy. I wake up hungry every day to create and advance to the next milestone with my band.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My heart seriously goes out to my FFJ family as the vision we create together is so important to so many people and it wouldn’t be possible without them. I’d like to give special thanks to Dylan Knetge (drummer) for being at the forefront of the band since the beginning, Hazel Romero (bass) for taking on the socials and promoting, Chips Barranco (lead Guitar) for sticking with the vision and taking on the task of producing the band, and Anthony Torres Castillo (Rhythm & lead Guitar) for hoping on and being a new vision and light to the band when it came down to writing.
