Today, we’d like to introduce you to Michael Rosen. Michael was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Ginger Britt Daniels.
Michael, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
It was a total accident that I got into music. When I was 13 years old, growing up in Montreal, my neighbor friend came over and said, “hey you gotta join this band.” I was like, “what’s a band?” And he took me over to these other kids house and they, said, “you’re gonna be in our band.” And that was that. I still play music occasionally, to this day with a guy from that band named Bob Cohen. I was the drummer, and even though we didn’t have a clue in the beginning, we got so good that fraternities were hiring our band and we were still in high school! This led to me eventually moving to Toronto and playing for a whole host of famous faces like Rosemary Clooney and Stephanie Mills. I also played percussion on a TV series before I eventually moved to Los Angeles. I played guitar and was the lead singer for a band in Paris from 2004-2006. I’ve played in Germany, Belgium, and Italy as well. When I wasn’t playing music, I found work as a photographer. I’ve been published in People magazine and have shot all kinds of rock stars like The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. All of these life experiences have enriched my life.

Please talk to us about your music.
I have found my voice as a producer, harmonica player, and drummer. My love of music and being a musician guided me to record and produce. I have recorded about twenty five live albums and I co own a recording studio called Media-Shmedia Studios where I produce and record many local artists, including Ginger Britt Daniels.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Ginger Britt Daniels and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Ginger Britt.
I just love working with Ginger. I think it’s because I admire her limitless energy, multi-discipline talent, and great attitude. Everything is just so good when we work together. Whether it’s on stage or in the studio, we vibe off of each other collaboratively I think because we understand what it is to wear many hats as creatives. So I guess we think alike in that way. She has been busy writing a tv limited series pilot that she’s also written the music for. We’ve been hard at work recording scratch tracks for that that she can use when she pitches the project. I have loved it because she’s been writing in a 60s pop/rock vein and then turning those tunes into 80s pop/rock. It’s really been fun collaborating on that.
And I can tell you, I will stay up late to work on her projects because I want to because it always turns out to be just so good.
