Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Gonzales.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Mariah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a deep love for aromatherapy, magick, and all things spooky. I’ve had the idea for quite a while that I wanted to start my own business one day, and when I had my daughter, everything fell into place. I blended my love for all of the above and that’s how my name and business, Magickal Madre, came about in May of 2019. With a lot of hard work and support from my family, it has flourished into my full-time job, a way to support myself and my family, and a creative outlet/passion.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A big challenge of mine was finding the time to run a business full time while being a new mother. It definitely was not easy, but as time goes on I’m slowly adjusting and getting the hang of things. Some other challenges were just learning the ropes of running a business and all that it takes. I truly believe it’s always a work in progress and you never stop learning or growing!
Please tell us about Magickal Madre.
I create spooky and magickal aromatherapy products such as candles, wax melts, and tea lights! I use soy wax, locally sourced herbs, biodegradable glitter, and ethically sourced crystals when creating my products. I design, create, and hand pour everything myself in small batches to ensure quality. What I’m known for is my unique candle designs that are unlike anything else you’ve seen! I think what sets me apart is being versatile in what I offer. Whether it be one of a kind scent blends, spell/ritual/intention candles, candle designs for the lovers of horror, Halloween, and all things spooky, or something dreamy and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I cater to all crowds and have something for everyone to enjoy! I’m proud that through my business, I’ve made so many meaningful connections with people. I love that I get to share my creativity and passion and have that be a part of people’s lives.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories from childhood is all of the DIY projects I got to do. I was really creative growing up so any chance I got, I would be at the craft store picking out supplies for my next big project.
