Meet Mara Carrizo Scalise of MARAMCS in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mara Carrizo Scalise.

Born in Buenos Aries, Argentina, a vibrant cosmopolitan city, Mara Carrizo Scalise was inspired from early on by her mother’s eclectic style. Taking her vintage pieces and altering and amending, a seed was planted, and Mara’s signature style began to develop.

While working with clothes in Argentina, she got a strong desire to leave Buenos Aires and moved to New York where she gained extensive knowledge in the fashion industry working as a stylist. During these years, Mara explored a spiritual path and became a Reiki master. Working on healing cancer patients, yoga teachers, and celebrities, she combines her two passions: creativity and spirituality.

In 2008, Mara became fascinated by alchemy and the healing power of metals and Mara-MCS was born with the intent to produce more than just beautiful jewelry.

Mara’s pieces reflect the girl herself:
Pure and strong, subtle and stylish A shaman rock star. Each piece is designed as something she’d wear. Mara layers, cuts and finishes each piece herself giving the brand a personal touch. A little bit punk a little bit purist, Mara’s jewelry crosses all kinds of boundaries and works to enhance any look from jeans and tees to red carpet fashion.

The Mara collection includes jewelry, handbags, wallets, belts, and home goods all hand made in Los Angeles where she lives with her husband and two children. Mara has a dedicated celebrity following including: Candice Swanepoel, Gigi & Bella Hadid, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Behati Prinsloo, Sienna Miller, Kristen Wiig, Mila Kunis, Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Missi Pyle, Lily Aldridge, Robin Wright & Rihanna.

Mara has also been featured in many campaigns such as Velvet, Paige Denim, Rag & Bone, Tommy Hilfiger, and Victoria Secret just to name a few.

Has it been a smooth road?
No… Nothing worth whiled is ever smooth..

So, as you know, we’re impressed with MARAMCS – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We make all pieces locally in Los Angeles, we use up-cycled metals, all products are consciously made. I design and hand-sculpted my pieces, and because  I am a Reiki Master, I infuse all pieces with healing energy  with the intention of protection and empowering.I also designs Leather bags and belts,  and I am working on a little clothing project right now…

Mara pieces are timeless and goes from everyday pieces to statement pieces, you can wear them to dress down or to go out and look fabulous…

As a company I’m most proud of that we’ve stayed true to our original vision..I love that my pieces are all hand made and love the fact that I can infused them with Reiki. (healing power with the intention of protection and empowering.)

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
I like everything about LA. I lived in NY for 15 years, and I was so ready for nature after having my second baby.

I love the great mix between Nature and City, and you have space to discover…The architecture here I love as well …What I love least as I’m sure many do is to see so many homeless people on the streets…
