Meet Magaly Tompkins of Jet Plane Mommy in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Magaly Tompkins.

Magaly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started blogging as a way to connect with other moms that are going through similar situations like me. Especially being a working mommy sometimes is tough. People look at you differently for not staying home and raising your kids. But, I’ve always wanted to prove everyone wrong that I can to do it all. Be a wife, a mom, a flight attendant and blog. Don’t ever give up on your dreams even when they seem so far to reach for.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. We’ve had a few bumps along the way. But my husband has always been my biggest cheerleader and has believed in me every step of the way. I know I can count on him even when I am at my lowest. Being a mommy of two under two is definitely a tough job but at the end of the day, those smiles on their faces say it all. That I am doing the right thing. The best part of it all is seeing my girls love airplanes just as much as I do! I know that one day they’ll become wanderlusts just like their mom.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jet Plane Mommy story. Tell us more about the business.
So, I started my blog, jetplanemommy.com, as an outlet but in time it has become so much more. Yes, I’ve become an influencer but its something that I’ve put so much work and passion towards it. Success did not come overnight its something that I have worked on for months and am continuing to work on because as each day passes I learn something new. What sets me apart from a few moms is the fact that I am a flight attendant. I am based in DFW, so I commute each week to and from. I’ve been doing this for 5 and a half years and I love it! One thing that this job has taught me is this, “find yourself a job that you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” And this job truly is this! Its open so many opportunities for me and my family as well. I’m definitely grateful.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I hope that there’s nothing but more growth. We need more flight attendant/pilot mommies out there to blog and share their stories. We need to show other moms that everything is possible!
