Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Scott.
Hi Leslie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off my career in the photography world pretty casually, you know? I was just dabbling here and there, snapping some photos at things I found here and there around the house, whatever a seven-year-old could get her hands on and whatnot. But man, let me tell ya, that love for photography just grew on me like crazy! As I played around with different angles, lighting techniques, and editing styles, I realized how much joy it brought me. It became this awesome way to capture moments and express my creativity all at once. And before I knew it, my hobby turned into a passion-driven career path. It’s funny how life can surprise you like that sometimes. Now, every time I get behind the lens, I feel this incredible sense of fulfillment – knowing that this is what I’m meant to do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ah, you know how it goes – just like with anything in life, things can start off pretty easy. But let me tell you, the further you dive into that particular journey or task at hand, the more challenges and complications seem to come your way (rejections because you’re too young or because you’re a woman.) It’s like a never-ending adventure where every level gets cranked up a notch. You might think you’ve got it all figured out at first, but boy oh boy, life has this sneaky way of throwing curveballs your way- like when I was looking for a photo school, I had one right up the street Art Center, but after applying they said I knew nothing about photography and to come back when I did. But isn’t that the point of going to school to learn?? I later found Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. Yes, it was a drive, a 200-mile-a-day drive, five days a week for three years, but that just proved I was committed, right? Or just plain out crazy. Suddenly, what was once a walk in the park becomes an obstacle course with twists and turns you didn’t expect. And yet, amidst all the hurdles and setbacks along the path, there’s a certain thrill that comes with conquering each new challenge that arises. Because hey, if it were just smooth sailing all the time, where would be the fun in that? So in the many years, I have just learned to go with the flow and not be so rigid on one thing or another because things can change in an instant.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Scott Studios?
As a commercial photographer focusing on food and products, I strive to make every image capture the essence and allure of the subject. Understanding the importance of branding and marketing strategies, I work closely with businesses to align their vision with the visual narrative portrayed in each photograph. With each assignment, professionalism is paramount; meeting deadlines while delivering exceptional results consistently ensures client satisfaction. By combining technical proficiency with creativity and an understanding of consumer psychology, I aim to exceed expectations and assist businesses in achieving their advertising objectives through captivating imagery.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
As a food photographer who captures all kinds of food, I am not all that adventurous when it comes to trying new and exotic dishes. While my primary focus lies in capturing the aesthetics and appeal of food through my lens, I believe in preserving the authenticity of each dish I shoot. Therefore, it is essential for me to have an understanding of the intricacies and flavors of different cuisines so that I can truly convey the essence of a dish in my photographs. However, by staying true to my craft, I tend to lean towards more visually appealing plates rather than venturing into unchartered culinary territories. This allows me to deliver stunning visuals without compromising on the quality or message behind each photograph. Ultimately, as a professional food photographer, I strive to depict food in its most enticing form while retaining its authentic essence.
