Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Shannon.
Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It started in the 80’s. My kind-hearted yogi dad (and cannabis farmer) would take me down in his F150 truck in the mountains to the yellow church where we would pick up our bulk co-op order. Here, we would plan our next river potluck, community drum circle, or trade heirloom seeds for strains.
Talks of sustainable living, organic food, mindfulness and respecting our resources was something I took for granted as I soon realized not every child was raised in a family like mine. My mother, who is still a very profound RN nurse, taught us that society needs both western and eastern ways of living to find balance in this diverse world. This was the beginning fuel that drove me into becoming a Holistic Health Practitioner on the Central Coast of California.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Growth isn’t always comfortable and the struggles along the way have definitely been humbling. When I work with people on any platform, I want them to know that they can RISE. They can be strong, long, and centered. Growing into myself and realizing in college fully that I wanted different things than my peers- I went through depression, overcome addiction and rigid habits that didn’t serve, broke free from a domestic violent relationships that consumed most of my 20’s- these were all things I needed to go through to appreciate staying and living in mental and physical balance if I were to train others to seek balance.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lauren Shannon Wellness story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a yoga, Pilates, and teacher trainer who also has a practice as a Holistic Health practitioner who is devoted to building wellness and emotional freedom in my students and private clients lives through movement, breath, nutrition, and mindset. I am known for throwing down radical music and wellness events and festivals, retreats, yoga brunches and Private events where we “let the good times flow” and “let go so we grow”. What sets me apart is I don’t follow rigid rules- I give my clients and students permission to feel their creative edge and let go of rigidity that can be what is actually holding them back. I highlight what they are already doing well and give them tools on how to take that into areas of their life that are lacking or depleted. I’m also known for providing high potency CBD products at a very affordable rate here in California that I make and designed specifically with my clients in mind. I just want to help others with this passion project and support their needs through 100% pure CBD topicals and edibles.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My father Larry. A yoga teacher and meditation warrior who has been the #1 person “I hope I can make him proud one day” hero on my heart. He has been the zen cheerleader.
Barb Kennedy. A phenomenal fitness and business mentor. She owns four health clubs -Kennedy Club fitness here on the coast and has set the bar high for me on working with our community and outreach work. She always has time to lift others up. I entered her health club ten years ago, held the door for her coming in, we smiled and locked eyes, the rest is history.
Patrick Shannon. This man that became my best friend, husband, and partner in play. I had addictive drive when I met him and had contracts between Monteray to San Diego plus teaching global retreats, festival partnerships – all in between taking care of my five years old daughter I yearned to be with. I kept thinking I had to break into higher pay and higher financial success. It was my dirty secret inside. He taught me that wasn’t the way and seven years later, I have drastically slowed down and let go of those fears surrounding doing less work which actually equals more self-work.
