Meet Kristen Thomasino of Buddytown Consulting LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Thomasino.

Hi Kristen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My career has always lived at the intersection of revenue, technology, and real-world execution. I didn’t start in a lab or a boardroom—I started in the field, working directly with customers, contractors, and operators. That hands-on experience shaped everything. It gave me a front-row seat to how money actually moves, where it breaks, and where opportunities are consistently missed.

Over the past 20+ years, I’ve built my career across sales, go-to-market strategy, and financial technology, with a significant portion of that time dedicated specifically to fintech. I’ve worked on and alongside large-scale payment ecosystems and revenue platforms, helping businesses modernize how they transact, scale, and grow. My focus has been on industries that are often overlooked by traditional fintech—especially real estate and construction.

These are multi-trillion-dollar industries, yet many businesses are still operating with fragmented systems, manual processes, and limited access to modern financial tools. I saw firsthand how this creates friction not just for companies, but for homeowners and communities as well.

At one point, my path took an unexpected turn due to a serious health challenge that forced me to step away from my career. That period became one of the most defining chapters of my life. I rebuilt my health from the ground up—physically, mentally, and professionally. It also gave me clarity. I wanted to build something that directly solves the problems I had spent years observing in Southern California.

Today, I’m back in the fintech space with a new product currently in development to drive economic growth. While I’m not sharing all the details yet, the vision is to address broken processes and create a more streamlined experience.

What excites me most is the potential impact. This isn’t just about technology—it’s about unlocking efficiency and creating better outcomes for both businesses and the people they serve. We’re building something designed to meet the market where it actually is today—and where it’s going next.

It’s still early, but the foundation is strong, and the response so far has been incredibly encouraging. I’m looking forward to sharing more soon.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road—but I don’t think meaningful work ever is.

One of the most defining challenges I faced was a major health setback that forced me to step away from my career at a critical point. It wasn’t a short pause—it took years of rebuilding. That process required discipline at a level I hadn’t experienced before, and it gave me a completely different perspective on resilience, priorities, and what it really means to start over.

At the same time, stepping back into fintech—especially while building something new—comes with its own realities. It’s a highly competitive space, and not every door opens just because you’ve done the work before. I’ve had to rebuild momentum, and move forward solo with this vision to continue to drive it into maturity each day.

There’s also a broader challenge that continues to stand out to me: many financial technology solutions aren’t built with a true understanding of how industries like real estate and construction actually operate. I’ve spent years in those environments, and I’ve seen the gaps up close. Building something that genuinely solves those problems—without overcomplicating it—is harder than it looks.

That said, I don’t see any of these as setbacks anymore. They’ve created a level of clarity and conviction that I didn’t have earlier in my career. When you’ve had to rebuild from the ground up, you become very focused on what matters—and very intentional about what you’re building next.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At the core, everything I build sits at the intersection of financial technology, real-world operations, and social impact.

I am the Founder of Buddytown Consulting and Thomasino Media, where I focus on helping organizations grow revenue, modernize operations, and bring new technology to market—particularly across fintech, real estate, construction, healthcare, and media.

What sets my work apart is that it’s built from the field, not just theory.

Over the course of my career, I’ve been apart of teams and led initiatives integrating into 150+ financial systems and brought multiple fintech products to market—including fraud detection platforms, contract and purchase order systems, invoice processing services, electronic bill networks, and payment infrastructure that connects into major networks like Mastercard. That hands-on experience—from product design to sales to customer adoption—taught me to look at the whole process.

Last year I rolled out the The Social Good Experiment by Buddytown for general consumption at www.socialgoodexperiment.com. This product was created to help users take a deeper look at their lives to find trends and challenges participants to engage with community positively with built in modules like the Social Good Games. The technology allows users to track their day to day behavior, symptoms, nutrition, training, self care, community engagement and key factors about their environments. We launched our affiliate program and have been rolling out through professional athletes, wellness coaches like The International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute and The International Pain Foundation.

Through Buddytown my other technology platform I’m currently developing is next-generation technology designed to simplify and unify complex business operations—particularly in industries that support our communities. While I’m keeping specific details under wraps for now, the focus is on removing friction across revenue, payments, and operations in a way that better reflects how businesses actually run day-to-day.

At the same time, Thomasino Media powers storytelling, visibility, and community through platforms like The Social Good News and The Social Good Magazine—highlighting innovation, resilience, and impact across industries.

What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is building with purpose.

Whether it’s technology, media, or consulting, everything ties back to creating systems that help people perform at a higher level, recover, rebuild, and grow. My own journey—overcoming significant health challenges and rebuilding both my life and career—has shaped a brand grounded in resilience, execution, and meaningful impact.

What I want readers to know is this:
I don’t just talk about innovation—I bring ideas to life, take them to market, and continuously refine them based on real-world feedback.

And this next chapter is just getting started.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re thinking about building in fintech—

Here’s the advice:

👉 Don’t just build—go to market.
If you haven’t sold it, you don’t fully understand it.

👉 Stay close to the field.
The best products come from real workflows, not whiteboards.

👉 Learn the systems—but don’t be limited by them.
Legacy infrastructure teaches you where the gaps are.

👉 Feedback is your unfair advantage.
The faster you get it, the faster you improve.

👉 Execution beats ideas. Every time.
There are plenty of ideas—few people carry them through.

If you’ve seen the gaps, you’re already ahead.

Now go create what should exist.
