Meet Kelly Phoenix of West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Phoenix

Hi Kelly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in Paris until I left for college in Boston when I was 18. After school, I lived in New York, where I did a lot of different jobs in art and fashion and eventually moved to Los Angeles in 2018. I started making music during the pandemic in 2020. After releasing a few songs and music videos, I decided to go back to my hometown of Paris. To work on more projects and do more performances. I was fortunate to meet incredible musicians and people in the art, film and fashion world. I’ve been back in Los Angeles since September 2024.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe that the art life is made of ups and downs, peaks and valleys, heart breaks, and moments of pure joy. There is never a straight line when it comes to being an artist. The idea of success does not exist because you might have one great show or one great release and then very soon you have to restart or reinvent yourself and no matter what you do you will always be tested or questioned

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a performer, I also act produce and direct music videos and short films and am venturing into a feature film as we speak. I think what I specialize in is in creating worlds whether it’s with my music, my films or even the way I style myself.. I’m very proud of my old soul short film out on YouTube. I think it sets me apart from others is that I am unapologetically myself at any point in any time.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My best advice would be to believe in yourself persevere and don’t let anything discourage you from your goals. There will be obstacles and tribulations, ups and downs, but that is part of the journey.. I wish I believed that anything was possible earlier on in my life, I think I was too caught up into what people think of me and what was realistically doable. I later realize that nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it and work hard towards it. Better late than never..
