Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Alexander
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey as a fashion shoot Choreographer back in 2010. Choreographing shoots for designers along with my product line. However, I had never created a full runway show until 2023. It was an opportunity of a lifetime and I was ready for it. Fast forward to 2024 I am now A known Fashion Choreographer for runway shows, as well as The one helping Models grow and get into Print. The opened door for me on a bigger platform was/is Ipop!I am excited to work with them once again this coming January in Los Angeles 2025.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road was not so smooth but it was a constant incline and growth. Every thing I was learning each year was evolving me unto another platform within the Fashion industry. Imagine, creating a product but having no funding to back it. The road will not feel smooth, but with a vision board and focus the funding will and did happen.
From 2010 until now 2024, I’ve learned, product development, product placement, marketing and Fashion show Producing. The fashion shots for the product which snowballed into my product line being on a runway in Paris. This happened because I knew this would be my journey and struggle or not I wanted this to happen. One year I was really pushing my product line and about to take it across the world and even had a contract. The next year covid hit. Even with that Heavy hit knowing That should have been my swan song, evolution arrived. I was now working in production and Not only was I working with different brands but I was now the person the brands would come to because I had evolved into a fashion show producer. With years of working with designers and models I was ready for a new page and Covid was the reason that new page was turned. The only struggle at that time was me stepping into another level of belief in myself since I was being ushered into the very place I had longed to be. 2020, was the Year Models Talk began and it was a hit! The show shared love, laughter, fashion and growth. All that during the first 2 years of covid.
As you know, we’re big fans of KAFTV MODELS TALK. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
You should know that We don’t just interview, we show and tell the stories that most inspire. All while showcasing the Brand, Designs and Models.
We specialize in getting models and designers seen. As a matter of fact because of all the hard work we have done with freelancing getting models featured, we have decided that in 2025 we will be opening our doors to another department of Models Talk, Model development and PR. What set us apart from others is that much of what we have done was never with a fee. Designers featured, models now in print and never did we charge. However, now we will host Model Etiquette classes all from KAFTV Models Talk.
I’m most proud of the Fact that I have stayed the course, gained knowledge and have many models looking to work with me. This says everything and gives me peace knowing that although I didn’t charge individuals there are companies that have paid me to coach and teach their models.
Do to this growth 2025 will add another layer of services to models and designers in our circle. Not just from LA and NY, but outside of our country as well.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice is always have a mentor as you are growing and developing into your greater self. This is someone that will keep and affirm that you are in perfect alignment with your goals. Networking will always bring new ideas or business at your feet. Find those that are more experienced than you as it will take you to a higher level which is your desire.
All these things I did, including a lot of free events and assisting. It allowed me in the room when I didn’t even have a ticket. Which always led me to a new client, more growth or a new adventure.
